JAPAN
Ken and Christine Cowell (Kushiro)
are encouraged that a young lady has started
coming to the church after looking up their
homepage on the Internet. Prayer is
requested for her. On 16th September Mr Sato
will be baptised. His wife is already a
believer. Please pray that their two
teenage daughters will come along to the
service. Mr Hayasaka, a university
student in Ken’s class, is also planning to come
for the first time next Sunday. Please pray
that he will show further interest in seeking
the Lord.
THAILAND
Peter and Peggy Ferry
return to Thailand on 11th September.
They would value prayer, especially for
the connection between flights at Heathrow.
BRAZIL
Jeff
and Denise Watson are in
Rio de Janeiro
and the
Vitoria area.
Pray for the Lord’s blessing on their ministry,
and for guidance and help for the
church in Foz do Iguacu during their absence.
Please pray especially for the safety of the
building, as there have been recent break-ins; the
water cooler, two wall fans and various other small
items were stolen last week.
CANADA
Peter Smith reports
that he is back in British Colombia for the
next 3 weeks for children's meetings. This week he
is at "Terrace" in the north; he asks
us to particularly pray that there will be a
good response and that adults will also attend. Next
week he is back at Westbank, and the
following week at Deep Cove, Vancouver.
PERU
Luis and Anne-Laure Mostacero (Trujillo)
ask prayer for a
group of students from their Bible Institute who
will be
helping
with a short-term mission in Chilete from
12th-15th September. The assembly there
has only 15 members, and the leading elder is
also one of the students. Pray that the
team will be able to make a big impact in this
small town.
ALBANIA
Peter Hedley
is in Albania
for 3-4 weeks. Please remember him as he travels,
and pray that
his visit will be an encouragement to the believers
there. He
requests prayer
specifically for an evangelistic outreach in
Orikum.
FRANCE
Janice Duffin (Aix-en-Provence)
requests prayer for a
special meeting being held on 16th September,
to which the mayor, members of the town council,
neighbours, etc, have been invited. At this
meeting, the general plans for the year ahead
are presented and it is a good opportunity to
establish the church’s identity within the local
community.
Gerry
and Dorothy Seed (Nantes)
would value prayer for next weekend, when
a visiting speaker from Paris will give three
messages in the assembly. They also plan to hold
a children’s club on the Saturday afternoon and
hope to encourage some of the children in the
neighbourhood to come into the hall for the
first time. Pray for the younger Sunday
school teachers who are involved in the planning
of this outreach.
Ian Newberry
requests prayer that someone will
come to help in the work in Pierrelatte,
as he is away one weekend per month
presenting seminars on prayer. Last
year, they had a couple from Geneva Bible
School to help, but they have now returned
to Geneva to complete their training. Ian’s
next seminar is lined up for 15th and
16th September with three churches in
Seloncourt in the east of France. Please
pray that the Holy Spirit will move
and motivate people to pray!
Briand
Tatford
requests prayer
as he visits the assembly in
Nice
on 15th and 16th
September
to speak at their church weekend. After
this, he and
Helene
will visit a pioneer assembly in Paris, and
then Briand
is speaking at a baptismal service in the
Gobelins,
an assembly they saw begin many years ago.
REPUBLIC OF IRELAND
John and Linda Stanfield
request
prayer for a new Alpha course
starting on 14th September, as well
as for a follow-on study from the previous
course. Pray, too, for responses from
the 4,000 ‘4You’ magazines distributed over
the summer.
