ZAMBIA
Prayer
is requested for retired missionary
Rachel Haigh (Barry
Haigh’s wife), who underwent surgery on 30th July. Please
pray that the surgery
will have been successful and for a quick recovery.
JAPAN
Ken and Christine Cowell are sorry to advise that
their gospel choir was not able to perform at the local
festival mentioned last week, due to heavy rain earlier in
the day. However, they were encouraged on Sunday when a
university student professed faith in Christ. He had come
for the previous four Sundays and had shown greater interest
each time. Do pray
for his growth in the Lord.
BRAZIL
Jeff and Denise Watson (Foz) request
prayer as they appear
in court on Tuesday 7th
August, to discuss problems with the architect
regarding documents relating to church building. Please
pray for guidance and
wisdom in how they respond, so that a resolution to the
problem will be found and that glory to the Lord will be
evident.
CANADA
Thank you so much for your
faithful
prayers for the tent outreach in
Port Coquitlam, BC.
The children's work saw the numbers average in the
mid-forties for the second week. At the final meeting, 14
adults attended (including 3 new faces) along with 50 kids.
In total 97 children attended with two thirds from the local
community and not linked to any Gospel Hall. Their behaviour
was excellent and they listened well. Please
pray
that the Lord will be pleased to bury His Word deep into
their young souls and that we shall yet hear of some young
one being saved. Another great encouragement was to receive PBS
applications from 34 children and 9 parents. Please
pray
with us that each of these will become a consistent student,
thank you. The final adult meeting topped 100 but the
greatest joy was to be told by
Arlene, as she shook
my hand - "Tonight
is my night, I'm saved and I have peace here" - as
she placed the other over her heart! To God be the glory!
Please
pray that she will go on for the Lord.
Pray
on too for Herta. She
attended almost every meeting in the final week and also
brought her husband Victor
to the last two meetings. Apparently last year he wasn't at
all interested.
EASTERN EUROPE
Please
pray for
Martin Baker, who is in
Slovakia this week
giving Bible ministry. He returns home on
4th August.
FRANCE
David and Brigitte Sutherland request
prayer for a camp
being held from 5th-19th
August, when over 40 children aged between 6 and 11
are expected to attend. Pray
for safety in all aspects of the camp, and that God’s Word
will have an impact on these young lives.
REPUBLIC OF IRELAND
John and Linda Stanfield request
prayer for GLO team
visit which takes place from
4th-18th August. Leo
Isac (Italy) is giving the Bible teaching.
The team will be involved in
children’s clubs, literature distribution, a Family Fun Day,
a youth night, a women’s evening and a quiz night.
Pray that invitations
given out will bear fruit and that the Lord would use the
various events to bring people to faith in Him.
Andrew and Gillian Shanks are planning to help with
the local children’s meetings held in various villages and
towns for two weeks from 7th
August. The meetings are usually held outside, so
pray especially for
good weather.
SPAIN
Ken and Alison Barrett request
prayer for the
evangelistic effort centring its effort on
Moana, in western
Spain, which begins on 1st
August for 2 weeks. Young people from assemblies
across Spain will be receiving training during the first 2
days and Ken will be
helping a group to work on their sketch-board open-air
preaching for the first half of the campaign.
Moana is a small town
where young national workers have concentrated their
church-planting efforts for the last two years. Please
pray for fruit for
their labours and growth in grace and joy among this young
team and the local churches they represent.
LOCAL
John Wallace (Hartlepool) is
the planned (D.V.) speaker on Sunday, 5th August,
2007.
The Open Air witness is
planned to be held at 5:30 pm on the 5th August. Please
pray for better weather - only 2 out of the 8
planned meetings have taken place.
Please remember also in prayer
various Young People's Camps that are happening this
week:
(a) The
North East Christian Camp
is being held at Broomley Grange, Stocksfield (15 miles west
of Newcastle). The speaker is
Stephen Clegg. Please
pray for his crucial
role to the camp, and that the weather will be suitable for
the many outdoor activities that are planned.
(b)
Alan Barber is taking
the “Word
of Life” camp
at Robin Hood's Bay in North Yorkshire.
(c) The Yorkshire Sunday
Schools Camp at Misterton, south of Doncaster. In recent
years 350 + people have attended with visitors from all
across the United Kingdom and beyond.
