Work commenced on a new Gospel Hall in the Spring of
2006, sited in Edenhall Grove, Redcar, and was completed in January 2007.
The Hall is located on a green field site next to the
Ann Charlton Multiple Sclerosis
Home. The main hall accommodates 80 people and includes a baptistry. A
separate small room can hold about 15 people. Kitchen facilities, toilets -
including for the disabled - storage areas, etc. are provided. The Site includes
car parking for at least 20 cars.
The design was by Building
Design and Management, Fen Drayton, Cambridge, and construction work was
carried out by Earl Saddington Ltd of Yarm Road, Darlington. Hartridge
Consultancy of Harrogate pursued the compensation claim against the
Local Authority with tireless energy over several years and freely gave
practical advice.
The Gospel Hall
Trustees express their appreciation for the professional services given by
all of the above.
The major part of funding for the new building came from
compensation paid by the Local Authority for the compulsory purchase of the
Regent Street site. In addition there were gifts from local Assemblies and
individuals, the John Laing Trust, and a significant contribution from
the fellowship. The fellowship are grateful for many local Assemblies and
individuals praying on their behalf that there would be a satisfactory outcome
to negotiations.
