Prayer Requests for Week Commencing 20th November, 2006

The following information comes mainly from the Echoes weekly prayer bulletin and further details can be found on their web site. Other prayer requests have come from direct communication with the missionary involved.

ZIMBABWE

ECHOES advised that on Tuesday 21st November there was a worldwide prayer meeting for Sandra Jones, who is suffering from terminal cancer. Please remember her and Deryck, and all the family.

JAPAN

Ken and Christine Cowell are encouraged that Miss Toita, the university student who returned to the assembly recently after a two-year absence, has now asked for baptism and is keen to study God’s Word. Praise God for this change in her. Prayer is requested for Tuesday evening, when Ken and Christine have their monthly study with the seven leaders of the Black Gospel Choir. Six of the seven are unbelievers, so pray that the Lord will speak to their hearts.

CANADA

Peter Smith is in Ontario this week for Children’s Meetings. The attendance is between 60-80 young folk, but behaviour and control is a problem. Please pray that Peter will be able to hold their attention better and they will not be so restless.

Elaine is busy with the Christmas Postal Bible School mail-out. It’s a massive operation with some 1,000 packages of gospels, lessons, tracts, calendars, etc to be prepared. Please pray that God's Word will have an impact upon these precious souls.

FRANCE

Mike and Alison Packer have sent an update on Lara, the young daughter of friends, who has been  mentioned for prayer during the year. Lara is still having regular chemotherapy sessions, along with the inevitable side effects. Although she is often very tired, she goes to school regularly. The tumour is reducing in size, but there is still a problem with a cyst which is being formed as a result of the treatment. Please keep praying for Lara and her family. Pray, too, that the family will be able to attend one of the Christmas activities currently being planned.

Hélène Tatford will be giving an evangelistic message at a ladies’ outreach to be held on 28th November. The meeting is for ladies from Geneva and nearby France, and will take place in a UN building. Pray for the Lord’s help for Hélène.

We have been advised that Rhoda Porteous has now been transferred to a rest home, and is on oxygen and a drip-feed. Give thanks that, although very weary, she is at peace in the Lord.
