ANGOLA
Ruth Hadley writes: ‘Back in December, one of the
leaders of an
assembly
about 50 km to the north of
Saurimo was accused of witchcraft, and the king for
this whole area closed the assembly and sent a letter into
town telling us what he had done. Elders went out from here
in town to resolve the problem. Today, we received news of
another gospel hall, about 15 km out of town, being knocked
down because the villagers had accused one of the leaders of
practising witchcraft. It would seem that Satan is making a
concerted effort to destroy the work in this part of Angola.
It will be impossible to rebuild in the rainy season, but
for the assembly it will be particularly difficult, as
everyone will be afraid to be associated with them. Please
ask folk to pray that
Satan will be confounded, and that the Lord will gain the
victory in these villages and situations.
Pray that the leaders
here will be given wisdom in knowing how best to deal with
it.’
BOTSWANA
Joy
Griffiths is grateful to those who
prayed about the
situation
regarding
the syllabus for her RE classes in the local school. Last
week the school offered her five classes of children,
allowing her 20 minutes per class, and asked that she
continue teaching the Bible-based syllabus she taught
previously. It has been decided that the class teachers
themselves will teach the multi-faith syllabus. Give thanks
for this answer to prayer,
and remember Joy
as she takes these lessons each week
ETHIOPIA
Please
pray for short-term
workers Robert and Sheena
Revie as they travel out to Ethiopia on
18th January, that
they will enjoy safety of travel.
Pray, too, that they
will be a help and an encouragement to the believers there
and be encouraged
themselves as they review the work going on. They return to
the UK on 17th April.
RWANDA
Chrissie
Mulindabigwi requests
prayer for the refugee situation. She says that the
week before Christmas they made three emergency trips to
assess the situation, as at least 200 people daily are
coming from Congo into Rwanda. Last week she made two trips,
and she and the team are trying to assist both practically
and spiritually.
CANADA
Peter Smith is this week taking Children’s Meetings
in Pasco, Washington.
He comes to the UK at the end of the month for a 3-week
visit.
SPAIN
Ken
Barrett is suffering from a bad cold which has
affected his voice, so please
pray for the Lord’s
help for him. On Thursday night, he hopes to be at
Sotilla de la Adrada
to help national worker Luis
de Miguel with a Bible study. On
Saturday he is taking
a teacher training seminar on Doctrine, and on
Sunday he will be
preaching at Azuqueca de
Henares. Prayer
is also requested for the
“Tea for
Two Languages” meeting next Sunday night, a bilingual
event to which unsaved will be invited.
Pray for wisdom as
they think about changing the venue for these meetings to a
rented restaurant nearer the town centre, to be nearer the
students they are targeting.
EDENHALL GROVE
The Hall is not quite finished, but
finished enough for the
Civic Opening to go ahead on
Friday at
12:00 noon and for us
to move in permanently.
John Hall (Harrogate) is planned to be with us next
Sunday evening for
the Gospel Service.
