DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC OF CONGO
Please
pray for
Erika Dannat, who is
travelling to Lusaka
on 9th August, and
will be staying initially in the mission house at
Kitwe, Zambia. As
yet, she is unsure of her return date to Congo. You may
remember that Erika
was due to return to Congo
at the end of April, but fell and sustained a fracture in
her back, so please pray
that all will go well this time, that she will enjoy safety
of travel, and soon be able to return to
Likasi in the Congo.
ZAMBIA
Retired missionaries
Robert and Margaret Muir, who served the Lord in
Mambilima, would
appreciate prayer for a visit there planned for
9th August. They plan
to stay for three or four weeks, during which time the
Luapula conference
will take place where they will give help. Also, they have
2,500
Bemba Bibles ready to be distributed to Christians in
the area. Please pray
for safe travel and an encouraging and fruitful time.
ZIMBABWE
Please
pray for
Sandra Jones, who had
a fall last week in the middle of the night,
whilst
Deryck was in South
Africa. She fractured three bones in the ankle area; her
bones seem to have become brittle due to all her
medications. She is now moving around in a wheelchair as she
is not strong enough to use crutches. She also has a
splinter in her other foot. She has just had her second
chemotherapy. Her cancer mark is up and her blood count
down, which isn’t the best sign. Please
pray for
Sandra and
Deryck as they go
through this difficult time.
FRANCE
Gerry and Dorothy Seed (Nantes) are looking forward
to the visit of a small team from
Carryduff assembly (NI) at
the beginning of August.
They will be involved mainly in tract distribution in
various areas of the city of
Nantes, plus other events, when there will be
opportunities for sharing their faith. Please
pray that unsaved
friends will attend and for the Lord to open their hearts to
receive His message.
ITALY
Please
pray for
Rod and Debbie Jones (Naples) as they commence three
weekends of outreach in the town park in
Bacoli. A good number
of believers are meeting together for
prayer at 7 am for
the duration of the outreach, and these are proving to be
good times of fellowship.
SPAIN
Ken
and Alison Barrett (Madrid) request
prayer for a
nationally coordinated campaign for assembly young people
being held from 1st-13th
August at Isla Cristina, in the province of
Huelva.
Ken and
Alison will be
joining the team from
1st-5th to train in sketch board evangelism.
In addition,
Ken and
Alison advise that
the arrangements for the family campaign in
Alcala de Henares,
from 6th-20th August,
have moved forward positively. The city council has granted
a general permission, although they may yet try to charge
for use of public space. Please
pray for safe travel
for all attending, for protection, and for the local
believers to be effective in their witness. Give thanks that
a 6 am slot has been
made available to evangelical broadcasters on national
radio. Pray on that
there will be a concession of licences for local evangelical
stations.
LEBANON
ECHOES advise that
Nigel White and his colleague
Mike Tomlinson are safe in Beirut.
Nigel says “People
here are very negative about the future in Lebanon. Please
pray as to what will
happen when the fighting stops”.
Please
pray for
Mohamad and two
sisters, as well as for a couple and their five children who
are seeking refuge in the school at
Tyre.
A helpful article about service in
Lebanon appeared in
the July 2006
Echoes
magazine.
