Prayer Requests for Week Commencing 16-07-2007

The following information comes mainly from the Echoes weekly prayer bulletin and further details can be found on their web site. Other prayer requests have come from direct communication with the missionary involved.  An index of previous weekly Missionary Prayer Requests is given at the foot of the page.

JAPAN

Charles and Rita Lawrence (Fukushima) request prayer for their overnight camp, to be held on 22nd and 23rd July. Pray for the extra helpers and for the unsaved folk who will be there.

Noel Hamilton advises that there has just been another earthquake in Japan. At least five people have died and hundreds have been injured. Houses and bridges have come down, and there has even been a fire at a nuclear power station. Noel felt the quake quite strongly in Koshigaya, even though the epicentre was a couple of hundred miles away. Please pray for the victims.

Ken and Christine Cowell (Kushiro) are delighted to report that Mr Suzuki, one of the students for whom prayer has been requested has now professed faith in Christ. He was especially helped by a DVD on the subject of evolution. He said that evolution had been his ‘oasis’, but now his oasis was God. Please pray that he will grow in his faith. Prayer is also requested for a special women’s outreach on 18th July, and the monthly English service on 22nd.

ARGENTINA

The last two weekends in July, Heber Gallitto (Parana) will be involved in conferences in Jujuy (not a spelling mistake!) Please pray that the Word given will be of the Lord and to the benefit and growth of the believers there.

CANADA

Peter Smith gives the following initial report of the Tent Mtgs. being held in Port Coquitlam (see July monthly Missionary Prayer Newsletter). “This morning saw the start of two weeks of children's meetings. We had 44 kids and 7 or 8 parents from the community, including a couple of Dads. The children listened well and so we hope many of them will be able to attend regularly. Last week saw encouraging support from the local believers, with the last 4 adult meetings seeing over 70 in attendance. Most meetings have seen several unsaved adults, including several Chinese contacts. There have also been a number of families present, so please pray also for believer's children, thank you.“

ETHNIC MINORITIES

Ruth Cushing asks us to pray for the protection of her car. Vandalism is a frequent occurrence in her neighbourhood, and recently she had three windows smashed in 24 hours, and four replaced in 11 days. Garages are hard to come by, so for the moment she is parking in a place which is five minutes’ walk from her home. Please pray for a solution to this problem.

FRANCE

Danielle Gilbert (Concarneau) requests prayer for an evangelistic youth group which is coming to the church from 20th-30th July. The local authorities have allowed them to hold two afternoon open-air sessions, when members of the group will sing, mime and bring God’s Word to the people of the town. Please pray for a good interest and that contacts will be made during these events.

ITALY

Leo and Angela Isac request prayer for a busy time ahead. The GLO team starts at San Miniato (Tuscany) on 19th July, running till 30th. They then move on to Enniscorthy, in the Republic of Ireland, where Leo has been asked to cover the Bible teaching for the GLO team there, from 4th-18th August. Please pray for physical strength and for safety as they travel to different areas of work.

LOCAL

David Stuart (Harrogate) is the planned speaker in the Gospel Service at 6:30 pm after the Open Air at 5:30 pm.
