Prayer Requests for Week Commencing 06-08-2007

The following information comes mainly from the Echoes weekly prayer bulletin and further details can be found on their web site. Other prayer requests have come from direct communication with the missionary involved.  An index of previous weekly Missionary Prayer Requests is given at the foot of the page.

JAPAN

Charles and Rita Lawrence (Fukishama) request prayer for summer camps which have already started in Karuizawa, and for the one in their area which will take place from 13th to 15th August. There are also other assemblies where the believers can only meet for a day or two. Pray that they will be encouraged by their time together.

Ken and Christine Cowell (Kushiro) advise that from 12th to 15th August they will be taking part in a Bible Camp along with other assemblies in Hokkaido. They will be taking two young people who are not Christians and would value prayer for their salvation.

BRAZIL

Jeff and Denise Watson (Foz) are preparing for Father’s Day, which is celebrated on 12th August in Brazil. Pray that a good number of fathers will attend the special service they have planned, as people often promise to come but do not keep their word.

PERU

Please pray for Luis Mostacero (Trujillo) and Richard Harknett (Trujillo), who are visiting an assembly in the jungle this week, returning on Monday 13th. The assembly is celebrating its anniversary and opening a new hall, and Luis and Richard are the invited speakers. Pray for safety in travel, and that God will use them to encourage the believers.

Terry and Kath Wickham (left) from Valencia, Spain, would value prayer for the group who are visiting Peru for three weeks from 7th August. The group comprises about 15 young people and four or five adults, and they will be helping to rebuild believers’ homes, as well as working in children’s evangelism, discipleship and leadership training. Pray that this will be a life-changing experience for all the team members.

FRANCE

David and Brigitte Sutherland at Arras request prayer for a camp being held until the 19th August, with over 40 children aged between 6 and 11. Please continue to pray for safety in all aspects of the camp, and that God’s Word will have an impact on these young lives.

REPUBLIC OF IRELAND

John and Linda Stanfield (Enniscorthy) request prayer for a GLO team  visit until the 18th August. Leo Isac (Italy) is giving the Bible teaching.

The team are involved in children’s clubs, literature distribution, a Family Fun Day, a youth night, a women’s evening and a quiz night. Pray that invitations given out will bear fruit and that the Lord would use the various events to bring people to faith in Him.

Andrew and Gillian Shanks (Newtownshandrum) say they will be having two weeks of children’s meetings starting on 6th August. They will give out invitations on Mondays, and meetings will be held on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings. Please pray for the children who will attend. In some areas it will be the only time in the year when they can hear the gospel.

SPAIN

Ken and Alison Barrett request prayer for the evangelistic effort centring on Moana, in western Spain, which goes on until the 15th August. Young people from assemblies across Spain will be involved in open-air preaching and use of sketch-boards. Please pray for fruit for their labours and growth in grace and joy among this young team and the local churches they represent.

OTHER OVERSEAS SERVICE

Please pray for Jim and Anne Smith (Brass Tacks), who will be going out to work at Kalene from 6th August until the end of October.

LOCAL

Gordon Onslow (Harrogate)  is the planned (D.V.) speaker on Sunday, 12th August, 2007.

At 5:00 pm on the 12th, there is the monthly visit to "Wheatacres", the local Senior Citizens' home.

The Open Air witness is planned to be held at 5:30 pm on the 12th August.
