Prayer Requests for Week Commencing 5th February 2007

The following information comes mainly from the Echoes weekly prayer bulletin and further details can be found on their web site. Other prayer requests have come from direct communication with the missionary involved.

ANGOLA

Mary Stewart (Saurimo) is due to have surgery on 12th February and would value prayer for her recovery.

ETHIOPIA

Please pray for former missionaries Robert and Sheena Revie, who are currently visiting Ethiopia. Robert has been teaching in two assemblies near Addis Ababa and has also visited Batie. During the coming week they will be attending a camp with over 100 young people, for which prayer is requested.

ZIMBABWE

Please pray for Sandra Jones, who has been going through a very difficult time. She recently had to go back into hospital due to problems with the plate and screws which were put into the ankle she broke over six months ago. Her bones have not healed because of the cancer treatments she has been having. Also, it seems that the cancer is spreading to other areas of her body. She is in good spirits, despite the pain, and continues with her counselling work when she can.

INDIA

Benji Daniel, who is currently in Fiji, is enjoying the fellowship of the believers there. He says, “They have so many stories of answered prayers during the past 11 months since I was last here. And they are all of one accord and one spirit about assembly matters.” Praise God that these believers are growing spiritually.

MALAYSIA

Please continue to remember Eric Kirton in your prayers. He is back home after a two-day stay in hospital. His breathing has become more difficult and he is not feeling so well. Doctors have recommended a drug to give him a better quality of life.

THAILAND

Peter Ferry (Phuket) will be in Myanmar from 8th to 13th February to attend a Workers’ Conference, which will take place in Rangoon from 7th to 9th. He requests prayer for all those who are travelling to the conference and that the Lord will bless their time together.

BRAZIL

Jeff and Denise Watson request prayer for their tract distribution. They have recently given out nearly 4000 tracts, and the majority are being read. Pray for fruit from this work.

PERU

Richard and Pam Harknett request prayer for the next module of the Bible Institute which is just beginning. They hope to have 17 students this time, from all over northern Peru. Richard will be teaching from Ephesians during this first week, which will be a challenge and a real test of his Spanish. Pray for the Lord’s help for him.

REPUBLIC OF IRELAND

Noel and Liza McMeekin report that the Postal Bible School prize givings have started. Please pray that these meetings will be used by the Lord to reach many, as most of the folk attending have no other contact with the gospel. This week, prizegivings will be held on the 7th in Ballybay, 9th in Castleblaney, and 10th in Sligo. Pray for safety as Noel and Liza travel many miles during these weeks. Liza fell last Saturday, whilst reaching up to the top shelf in their store, and she has torn ligaments in her knee.  This will make things difficult during prize giving time, so please pray for a speedy recovery for her (D.V.).

LOCAL

John Wilcock (Wylam) is planned to be with us for the Gospel at 6:30 pm.
