Prayer Requests for Week Commencing 4th December, 2006

The following information comes mainly from the Echoes weekly prayer bulletin and further details can be found on their web site. Other prayer requests have come from direct communication with the missionary involved.

ASIA

S. V. Ramalingam, Singapore, underwent  surgery on Tuesday, November 21st for newly developed cardiac complications. Let us  uphold him to the Throne of Grace for a complete recovery so that he can continue his valuable service for the Lord.

BOLIVIA

Short-term worker Tony Cullen advises that he and his dentist colleague are visiting Peru for a week from 4th December. They will be taking part in a medical mission to the people of the Andes Mountains, and their particular involvement will be in intensive dentistry. Tony would appreciate prayer for this trip, not least because the conditions they will be working in will be very basic.

FRANCE

Janice Duffin advises that the assembly has been asked for the second year running to participate in the official stall for different associations on the main avenue of Aix from 8-10th December. This is right in the heart of the town, where a Christmas market, with over 300 stalls, draws crowds from all around the area. Please pray that the Lord will bless this outreach, and that they will have good contacts and be able to distribute calendars and Bibles.

Alan and Valerie Kyle will be holding two special Christmas outreaches – one for ladies on 8th December, and the other main one on 17th. Pray for the Lord’s blessing on these events.

Colin and Mary Crow advise that they will be having a series of special worship services on the Sundays leading up to Christmas, beginning on 10th. They will be based on the Christmas story, and will be shorter and simpler than normal, so that non-Christian friends can be invited. Please also remember to pray for Mary as she receives treatment for a cancerous lung nodule. Her weekly treatment is set to run until mid-January, and is going well.

Ian and Francoise Newberry advise that the prayer seminars held last month went well and were blessed by the Lord. They request prayer also for a Service on the 10th December, when a Christian ventriloquist, Jean Claude Labbe, will take a meeting for both children and adults in the Pierrelatte church. Pray that many non-Christians will attend and be challenged by the Word of God presented in this unique way.

Please pray for continued peace and comfort from the Lord for Rhoda Porteous, and that she and Colin will know that underneath are the everlasting arms.

REPUBLIC OF IRELAND

Colin Sheldon arrived at a school one morning to teach Bible Explorer, and was given an envelope from the Principal. Inside was an invitation from the school to meet the President of the Republic of Ireland, when she visits on 6th December. Whether Colin will be giving a demonstration or will just speak with the President about Bible Explorer has yet to be decided. Please pray for the Lord’s help for Colin, and that God will be glorified as a result of this encounter.

Andrew and Gillian Shanks mention two families in their neighbourhood who have made them very welcome and ask us to pray that the Lord would touch their hearts. Pray also for an outreach that is planned in Charleville, a development of about 100 houses. Andrew and Gillian will be moving to this area in January.

LOCAL
