Prayer Requests for Week Commencing: 30-04-12

The following information comes mainly from the Echoes weekly prayer bulletin and further details can be found on their web site. Other prayer requests have come from direct communication with the missionary involved.  The prayer requests listed here are, as far as is sensibly practical, for activities that are happening on the particular week. A list of previous weekly Missionary Prayer requests can be found here.

The Assembly also, most months, publishes a monthly Missionary Prayer Newsletter, for prayer requests on a longer time-scale. Click here for the last monthly prayer newsletter.

ANGOLA

Pray for Brian Howden as he visits Angola from 1st-24th May. Pray for safety in travel and that his ministry will be a blessing to the believers there.

Sam Balmer and Stephen Gillham are going to Ethiopia, Tanzania and Kenya 30th April – 16th May for ministry and training.  Please remember them as they travel and seek to take forward the work of Bible Educational Services.

THAILAND

Geoffrey and Pat Atkinson (Mae Sariang) have received news from Chrestos Mission that the Bible School at Mae Lah refugee camp, in Thailand, has been burnt to the ground along with Dr Simon’s house (the Principal). This would have included the large library, computer room and all of Dr Simon’s and his wife’s belongings. The Bible School has 300 students. Please remember this situation in your prayers.  Echoes of Service have sent monies from its Disaster Fund to help in the provision of temporary shelter and food supplies.

FRANCE

Malcolm and Hannah Coombes - The Orange assembly Young People’s leaders have asked them to give an informal talk to the Youth Group on the subject, ‘What Islam is and what Muslims believe’, and ‘How to reach them with the Gospel’, on Saturday evening, May 5th.  Hannah will be cooking a Middle Eastern meal. Please pray for all those attending and that Malcolm and Hannah would be given wisdom as they speak.

Chris and Michelle Hall (Laval) would value prayer as they prepare for several musical events. On Saturday 5th May Laval Church has an open day and they are hoping to perform some of their songs. Also a choir named Singlish, formed earlier this year, and made up of about 15 members, many who are not attached to the assembly, are preparing some material, which is intended to provoke thought about faith in God, and His intervention in people’s lives.  Pray for the witness these opportunities will provide.

Alison Packer (Laval) is improving rapidly and is putting on weight, although she is still attached to an intravenous feed.  She has been able to go out for short walks and is gradually increasing her food intake.

REPUBLIC OF IRELAND

Andrew and Gillian Shanks (Newcastle West)  - Andrew would value prayer as he plans to visit Killmallock market with some believers from  Charlesville, Co Cork on Monday 7th May. Although they have been given permission from the market organisers they pray there would be acceptance from other stall holders. Pray for good weather and good opportunities to reach many people with the gospel.

ITALY

Adino and Eleanor Ricossa (Monbello Monferrato) would value prayer for a ladies’ weekend, taking place in Oulx from 4th-6th May. Pray for a time of fellowship and blessing

The monthly visit to Yew Tree Care Centre is planned for this coming Sunday at 5:15 pm.

LOCAL
