Prayer Requests for Week Commencing 28-09-09

The following information comes mainly from the Echoes weekly prayer bulletin and further details can be found on their web site. Other prayer requests have come from direct communication with the missionary involved.  The prayer requests listed here are, as far as is sensibly practical, for activities that are happening on the particular week. A list of previous weekly Missionary Prayer requests can be found here.

The Assembly also publishes a monthly Missionary Prayer Newsletter, for prayer requests on a longer time-scale. Click here for this month's prayer newsletter.

PHILIPPINES

Please pray for Jonathan and Jingle Bradford, whose house has been completely flooded due to a typhoon hitting the city of Manila. They share the house with Jingle’s mother and brother. Jonathan and Jingle were at the church when it happened, but Jingle’s mother had to be evacuated. They are trying to hire a boat to get to the house and assess the damage, and will be out of touch for a few days.

BAHAMAS

Following Mark Lacey’s (right) MRI scan, the consultant has suggested surgery, which is planned for next Saturday, 3rd October. It is hoped that recovery will be short, to enable Mark and Carol to return to the Bahamas at the end of October. Please pray that the operation will be a success.

BRAZIL

Walter and Elizabeth Alexander (Vitoria), who have been visiting Portugal over the last few weeks, are returning to Brazil at the beginning of October. They will be at Ituiutaba for a conference and special meetings from 3rd to 9th October. Walter will be speaking at the Missionary Conference in Sao Paulo on 10th and staying for the weekend. Please pray for Walter and Elizabeth as they travel and minister.

CANADA

Peter Smith is at Corner Brook, Newfoundland, for a week of Children’s Meetings.

FRANCE

Ian and Francoise Newberry (Pierrelatte) are having to obtain official permission to continue having their bookstall in the market. Pray that it will be granted without hesitation. Pray, too, for a youth group weekend on 3rd and 4th October, which will be led by a young couple, Jean Yves and Marie-Salome.

NORWAY

Margaret Hewitt (Norway) who has not been well recently, asks us to pray for Joanna, who will be baptised this Friday.

SPAIN

Ken Barrett (Madrid) is grateful to those who have prayed for him and for the work at Alcala. Give thanks that the pain in his back has eased, and that the man who was causing trouble for the church is no longer issuing threats to them.

LOCAL

"Coffee and Chat" on each Wednesday morning at 10:30 am.

Stephen Richardson (Jarrow) is planned to be with us this Sunday evening for the preaching of the Gospel.
