Prayer Requests for Week Commencing 23-11-09

The following information comes mainly from the Echoes weekly prayer bulletin and further details can be found on their web site. Other prayer requests have come from direct communication with the missionary involved.  The prayer requests listed here are, as far as is sensibly practical, for activities that are happening on the particular week. A list of previous weekly Missionary Prayer requests can be found here.

The Assembly also publishes a monthly Missionary Prayer Newsletter, for prayer requests on a longer time-scale. Click here for this month's prayer newsletter.

ANGOLA

Debbie Howden is planned to fly back to the UK on the 28th, having renewed her residency permit (D.V.). Brian Howden will go with local brethren, Pedro Sajoia and Joao Lologe to an area called Xa-Muteba where a number of Assemblies will gather for 8 days of Meetings. They would very much value our prayers.

CHAD
Please pray for Dawn Elliott, who is making a return visit to Chad where she served full-time from 1958-67 and from 1976-84. She will be in Chad from 24th November till 3rd March 2010.

DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC OF CONGO

Please pray for Willie Rew (right) , who, in addition to having just lost his wife, is unwell and has been taken to Lubumbashi for treatment. He is in pain and having difficulty breathing. Pray for relief from his symptoms.

REPUBLIC OF SOUTH AFRICA

Paul and Dorothy Grieve (Murchison) mention that the Sunday school children will be doing a special performance this Sunday, 29th November. Pray for the parents as they listen to the gospel message presented in various ways. Around 160 children attend Sunday school regularly, including a good number of teenagers.

RWANDA

Peter Andrews (Kigali) would value prayer for his next trip to Rwanda. He is due to travel on 25th November. Pray for safety in travel and a time of mutual encouragement.

ZAMBIA

Julie-Rachel Elwood requests prayer as she prepares to sit the exam for foreign trained nurses on Thursday 26th November. She is required to pass this in order to be able to continue working at Chitokoloki Hospital.

JAPAN

Prayer is requested for Charles Lawrence (Fukushima), who will be the only speaker at meetings in the Jono assembly in Kitakyushu on 23rd and 24th November. He is currently undergoing chemotherapy treatments and will have had 17 of these when he is due to take the meetings.

MEXICO

Eglon and Judith Harris (Orizaba) have a music seminar planned for 28th November, when a set of 40 Christmas hymns will be presented. Those who attend will be using them later on for their own Christmas programmes. Pray that people’s hearts will be touched as they hear the Christmas message presented in song.

FRANCE

The exhibition on John Calvin is to be shown in Arras on 28th and 29th November. Pray that many will attend this event and that Peter Wheeler will be helped as he gives a public lecture on the 28th.

REPUBLIC OF IRELAND

Noel and Liza McMeekin would value prayer for Noel as he visits over 3,000 rural homes with a gospel calendar and literature, and also the 1,000 homes in Cootehill. Pray for open doors and receptive hearts.

NORWAY

Please pray for Margaret Hewitt, who has had a stent fitted for a blocked artery and has now been transferred to Skien hospital for recovery.
