Prayer Requests for Week Commencing 20-09-2010

The following information comes mainly from the Echoes weekly prayer bulletin and further details can be found on their web site. Other prayer requests have come from direct communication with the missionary involved.  The prayer requests listed here are, as far as is sensibly practical, for activities that are happening on the particular week. A list of previous weekly Missionary Prayer requests can be found here.

The Assembly also, most months, publishes a monthly Missionary Prayer Newsletter, for prayer requests on a longer time-scale. Click here for the last monthly prayer newsletter.

ANGOLA

Ruth Hadley reports (see also Prayer Requests for 8th Sept.) that they have been able to send Moises Chivuma’s daughter to the Argentinean doctors at Luena, who then sent her for a scan in Luanda. By taking this action a lot of the steam has been taken out of the families accusations. Moises himself is greatly encouraged by the prayers and the help received.

DEM. REP. OF CONGO

Mary Ratter (Katoka) reports that the young fellow who has been doing local driving on the mission for them landed the pickup in the ditch shattering windscreens and injuring the 3 workers who were travelling with him. Thankfully no one was seriously hurt and they are so thankful for that. They praise God for His protection. Please remember to pray for safety in travel for the mission workers, as well as for health and strength, and wisdom for the medical work.

ZAMBIA

Julie-RachelElwood (Chitokoloki)  reports that a local man was recently killed by a crocodile which attacked him as he stepped out of his boat onto the river bank. Pray that God will use this incident to speak to people regarding the urgency of getting right with Him. Pray, too, for the family of the man who died.

JAPAN

Please pray for Ronnie and Anne Cairns (Akashi), who returned to Japan on Tuesday, 21st September for another three months, after spending the summer in the UK. They plan to hold Bible studies in Akashi every Sunday during October and special gospel meetings each Sunday in November.

Charles & Gloria Morris (Greenville, USA) are visiting Argentina between Sept 22nd and Nov. 2nd.  They are visiting 17 Assemblies and the International Missionary Conference at which Charles will be speaking on “Missionary Strategy—beginning new testimonies”.  We are asked to please pray for travelling mercies and that their health will hold out (D.V.). Spiritual activities demand spiritual power, and our prayer support for them is valued.

BAHAMAS

Pray for the work at the Haven, which is currently without an official board. Mark Lacey is meeting with several men who he believes will be an asset to the work. They hope to make some major decisions at a special prayer meeting on 28th September.

EASTERN EUROPE

Martin and Margaret Baker are visiting Sofia, Bulgaria, from 20th to 27th September, for ministry and gospel preaching. Pray for the Lord’s blessing on this trip.

REPUBLIC OF IRELAND

Andrew and Gillian Shanks (Newcastle West) would value prayer as they restart the weekly children’s meetings. Posters have been put up in local schools and an advert has been placed in the newspaper. Pray for a good response.

ITALY

Adino and Eleanor Ricossa Mombello-Monferrato) ask us to pray for the Asti and Brusasco groups as they come together for a time of Bible teaching and fellowship at Oulx from 24th to 26th September. Pray that this will be a blessing and encouragement to everyone.

SPAIN

Ken and Alison Barrett (Madrid) ask prayer for a European open air preachers’ conference from the 23rd to 26th September, being held in Madrid city centre. Please pray that those who attend will be encouraged in their spiritual lives and learn skills which will make their ministry more effective, and that the sessions at street level will lead to conversions.

LOCAL

Coffee & Chat each Wednesday morning at 10:30 am.

Tony Harvey (Whitley Bay) is planned to be with us on Sunday for the preaching of the Gospel at 6:30 pm
