Prayer Requests for Week Commencing: 19 - 12 - 2011

The following information comes mainly from the Echoes weekly prayer bulletin and further details can be found on their web site. Other prayer requests have come from direct communication with the missionary involved.  The prayer requests listed here are, as far as is sensibly practical, for activities that are happening on the particular week. A list of previous weekly Missionary Prayer requests can be found here.

The Assembly also, most months, publishes a monthly Missionary Prayer Newsletter, for prayer requests on a longer time-scale. Click here for the last monthly prayer newsletter.

MALAWI

Michael and Janet Stafford (Retired workers) – are visiting Malawi.  Whilst in Blantyre they were attacked by 5 robbers who took laptops, phones, cameras etc. Two watchmen were found outside tied hand and foot.  They are now taking action to upgrade security at the Torch Trust compound in Blantyre and staff are fearful of more attacks.

ZAMBIA

Ian and Marilyn Campbell (Chingola) - Pray for the prison visits as they give small Christmas gifts to each prisoner doing the Emmaus Bible correspondence courses. In addition Ian would appreciate prayer for a good recovery after having his first bout of Malaria in 12 years.

FRANCE

David and Brigitte Sutherland (Arras) ask prayer for Nathan (17yrs) and Aurore (22yrs) who are to be baptised 6th January. Another teenager Melodie, who also attended the preparation classes, hopes to be baptised later in the year.

Alan and Valerie Kyle (Dunquerke) ask us to remember the work of the clothes depot which is held monthly. The next one is due on Thursday 22nd December, and will be a Christmas special. Pray that the men who attend will listen and respond to the gospel message.

REPUBLIC OF IRELAND

Andrew and Lorna Burt - Each quarter, Lorna visits about 50 people, mainly women to give them the ‘Our Daily Bread’ Bible reading booklet. This month they will also receive a Christian calendar. Pray that these visits will produce opportunities to express God’s love and care, to pray with people and share the message of the gospel.

OTHER OVERSEAS SERVICE

Robert and Janet Dann are preparing for a month’s trip to Ethiopia starting just after Christmas. Rob will have a class of postgraduate MTh students who will have a wide experience of church and mission, which should be very stimulating. Pray for the Lord’s guidance and blessing, and that he will lead them into contact with people they can encourage and help.

LOCAL

Coffee & Chat each Wednesday morning at 10:30 am.

There is no Gospel Service next Sunday evening - Christmas Day.

A Joyful Christmas and a Blessed New Year to all readers and prayers. May 2012 (D.V.) be the year when many more are added to the church before He comes for His own.
