Prayer Requests for Week Commencing 16-08-2010

The following information comes mainly from the Echoes weekly prayer bulletin and further details can be found on their web site. Other prayer requests have come from direct communication with the missionary involved.  The prayer requests listed here are, as far as is sensibly practical, for activities that are happening on the particular week. A list of previous weekly Missionary Prayer requests can be found here.

The Assembly also, most months, publishes a monthly Missionary Prayer Newsletter, for prayer requests on a longer time-scale. Click here for the last monthly prayer newsletter.

ANGOLA

Ruth Hadley (Saurimo) requests prayer for the believers at Luma Cassai, where one of the elders was recently killed by the village chief. The son of the man who was killed is the main nurse in the clinic, and he is finding it difficult to stay in the village. The other elders have also been threatened. Pray that the believers will stay strong and not flee to the neighbouring cities of Luena or Saurimo.

MALAWI

Jonathan Newell (Blantyre) plans to visit Australia from 18th to 31st August, at the invitation of a church which supports the Challenge newspaper. He will have many speaking engagements during this time and would value prayer.

MOZAMBIQUE

Pray for Zambian workers Patrick and Grace Mulenga, who have to renew their work permits before the end of August.

INDIA

Benji Daniel will be visiting the north of India from 20th August to 18th September. Pray for him as he gives teaching and seeks to strengthen the churches. Gill has now returned to Canada. Pray for them during this time apart and remember Gill as she cares for her elderly parents. Her 90 year-old father is due to have an operation soon.

PAKISTAN

Yunis Lal Din, administrator at the Women’s Christian Hospital in Multan, reports that they are treating flood victims at the hospital. There are 22 relief camps around Multan, with about 7,000 displaced people, and there are also many victims staying with friends or relatives. Pray for Yunis and the staff as they try to help in this desperate situation.

CANADA

Peter Smith continues with Tent Meetings for children this week in Roseisle (Mannitoba). Nearly 1500 homes have been mailed details of both the Treasure Seekers and adult Gospel Meetings, so please pray for a favourable response from the community. They are particularly hoping that some ex-Hutterite families who live nearby will join them.

ITALY

Peter Hedley will be in Italy during the second half of this month. During his visit, an assembly in Turin which he helped to plant will celebrate its 40th anniversary. Pray for this fellowship as they consider another church plant in the future.

GLO

Please remember the GLO team outreach taking place in Dömös, Hungary, from 21st to 29th August. Pray that the team members will be kept in good health and be effective in their witness.

UK

Alan Barber (Hartlepool) is this week taking  Children’s Meetings at Wallington, Surrey. Please remember in prayer. Alan is struggling with back problems at the moment.

The Yorkshire PBS camp is being held in N. Yorkshire this week. Though this will be their smallest ever, with just 27 campers, please pray that God will richly bless each one attending, and that His Word will bear much fruit for His glory.

LOCAL

Coffee & Chat each Wednesday morning at 10:30 am.

There will be an Open Air witness in Redcar High Street at 2:00 pm on Sunday.

Alan Green (Harrogate) is planned to be with us on Sunday for the preaching of the Gospel.
