Prayer Requests for Week Commencing 13-12-2010

The following information comes mainly from the Echoes weekly prayer bulletin and further details can be found on their web site. Other prayer requests have come from direct communication with the missionary involved.  The prayer requests listed here are, as far as is sensibly practical, for activities that are happening on the particular week. A list of previous weekly Missionary Prayer requests can be found here.

The Assembly also, most months, publishes a monthly Missionary Prayer Newsletter, for prayer requests on a longer time-scale. Click here for the last monthly prayer newsletter.

REPUBLIC OF SOUTH AFRICA

Paul and Dorothy Grieve (Murchison) ask for prayer for a Zulu conference which will be held from 16th to 19th December. Paul will be speaking on the subject of ‘Stewardship’.

ETHNIC MINORITIES

Ruth Cushing requests prayer for a Christmas programme at the Toxteth Women’s Centre in Liverpool with which she will be involved on Thursday 16th. During the programme, she will share the message of Christmas in English and Urdu and it will be translated into Arabic. Pray for all the practical arrangements, that there will be a good number of ladies there, and that they will listen well and be challenged by what they hear.

FRANCE

John and Beryl van den Hogen (Ronco) ask for prayer for the special Christmas outreach on 19th December. Two assemblies will join together for this occasion and a large hall in the town centre has been rented. Pray that many will respond to the invitations being given out.

Allan and Anne Kitt (Villefranche-sure-Saone) would value prayer for their Christmas outreach service at the church on Sunday 19th December. On Friday 24th, there is another smaller service at La Clairière nursing home, this time just for residents and staff.

REPUBLIC OF IRELAND

Andrew Shanks (Newcastle West) advises that Joseph was unable to attend his appointment last Tuesday, as he was receiving hospital treatment for stress-related problems. However, he was called to appear on Friday at the Immigration Office in Dublin, which is a three-hour drive away. Give thanks that he was allowed home and told that he could sign on again in Limerick city on 6th January. Meanwhile, he still faces the judicial review on 20th December.

SPAIN

Ken and Alison Barrett (Madrid) request prayer for Christmas events this week. There is a supper on Friday 17th, and on Sunday 19th they will have carols and readings and a special Christmas programme. Please pray for the contacts invited and that the message of Christ will be effectively communicated. Prayer is also requested for those training on civil volunteer courses in preparation for being involved with members of the public when the Coffee House project begins.

LOCAL

Coffee & Chat each Wednesday morning at 10:30 am.

Christmas Carol Service on Sunday at 6:30 pm, led by David Cartwright. 500 Invitation Cards have been distributed around the immediate area.
