ANGOLA
Brian
Howden’s plans for his current visit to Angola are as
follows:
Once back at
Camundambala my priority is
to renew my residency permit. This is very important and with it I
can come and go and travel throughout Angola without visa's and is a
great blessing in the work. The process of renewing should only take
a couple of days if all the officials are actually at work.
Please pray that this process
will be submitted promptly and that in the Lords time another one
will be granted.
Once the paperwork has all be submitted I
will be going to Cacolo where
I have an invite to go with some local
Saurimo brethren to visit the
assemblies in that region. Depending on time we will have the
possibility of going further, and even returning to
Lubalo to follow up on the
visit we made in September. Please
pray for help and liberty in the preaching and teaching of
God's Word that souls will be saved and built up in the faith.
The printing work in
Saurimo needs paper, so this
may demand a trip to Luanda
if there are no supplies in Saurimo. There are many houses in the
Leper village that need repairing and the believers at
Camundambala need much
encouragement so there is plenty to do.
Returning to the UK on
Dec 16th will be via
Luanda. Before leaving I hope
to view the plot of land in Luanda
that has been offered to us to build a small house that we can use
as a base in Luanda.
ZAMBIA
Stephen
and Jo Grove (Chingola)
ask us to pray for a young
girl from the Thursday girls’ Bible study group who recently made a
commitment to follow Christ. Jo
has been working through some follow-up books with her. Please
pray that her faith will grow
and prove to be genuine. Prayer
is also requested for the discipleship group. A number have been
asked to leave this group because of bad behaviour.
Pray for the four remaining
members, that they will be strengthened in their faith and not yield
to pressure and taunts from those who have stopped coming.
PAKISTAN
Prayer
is requested for a 45 old Pakistani lady,
Asia Bibi, a mother of 5
children, who has been sentenced to death in Pakistan for allegedly
breaking Pakistan blasphemy laws.
Bibi, 45, was jailed after a row with some local Muslim women
in a district near Lahore. Some of the women workers had been
putting her under pressure to renounce her Christian faith and
accept Islam. She responded by sharing
with them about her faith in Christ. The women refused to
drink water that Bibi had
fetched because she was a Christian. They accused her of insulting
the prophet Muhammad, leading to her arrest and subsequently her
death sentence. Please
pray
for her miraculous deliverance.
BAHAMAS
Mark
Lacey advises that a new board has been elected at
The
New
Haven.
Give thanks for this new team and
pray that they will work well together. Give thanks, too, for
the recent conversion of two of the students and
pray for them as they study
discipleship courses.
BRAZIL
Jeff
and Denise Watson are coming to the UK for a furlough on the
14th December and would value prayer
for the Assembly in Foz do Iguacu
while they are away. There are only two men in fellowship, one of
whom is studying at university. Pray
that someone will be found who can support the believers during the
next few months.
ALBANIA
Enris Nase
(Tirana) would value supporting
prayer for:
-
The
Emmaus work. They have
finished the translation, proof reading and printing of 3
further Emmaus courses bringing the total number now available
to 8.
-
The
Prison
work. One man, a 33 year old who has been in prison for 13 years
with another 3 years to serve is showing a lot of interest in
the gospel. He has completed 3 Emmaus courses. There are
several others also interested and we pray for wisdom as we
speak with them weekly.
-
The
Book Fair.
Distribution of over 2000 calendars
and copies of the most recent tract translated.
No Hiding Place.
Peter Hedley writes that the Lord
has continued to provide sufficient funds through His people to
carry on the orphanage work in the southern Albanian town of
Gjirokaster.
Many thanks to all those who have
prayed
for and given practically to this work of mercy.
FRANCE
Geoff and
Annette Cawston (Angers)
ask for prayer for the
assembly during the coming year, when they will be in temporary
accommodation. They had to vacate their previous building, but the
local authorities are allowing them to use some rooms in a community
centre, at a very reasonable rate.
Pray that the believers will grow in faith as they continue
to search for suitable premises.
Colin Crow
(Montpellier) advises that after ten years of searching for
new premises for the assembly, they have now found a suitable
building in the right area of the city.
Pray that the town mayor will
grant permission for them to use a commercial building as a church.
Ian and
Francoise Newberry request
prayer for the church in
Pierrelatte as they move ahead with finishing the extension
to their building. The external construction is completed and they
will be tackling most of the interior work themselves. The extension
will be used for youth and Sunday school work.
Pray for strength, wisdom and
God’s provision for materials.
Alain and
Christine Monclair (Quimper Region) remind us to
pray for the gospel calendar
ministry. Alain has already
written 13 of his 24 messages for the 2012 tear-off calendar, and
has just been asked to write more messages for the ‘Daily
Meditations’ calendar for believers.
Pray that the Lord will give
him inspiration for this work.
REPUBLIC
OF IRELAND
Please
pray for Noel McMeekin
as they distribute over 3000 calendars to rural homes in the
Drum district during
December. Please pray that some will heed the word of God displayed
on the calendar. Please also remember the
Christmas Shoebox work that
Liza is involved in along
with other ladies in the Assembly.
ITALY
Alec and
Patrizia Catchpole (Naples) ask for
prayer for the new mums and
toddlers group that they have started. It is going well so far. Some
of the mothers have real difficulties, so
pray for wisdom as they seek
to help them.
Giovanni
and Hannah Donato (Siena)
were encouraged recently when around 60 non-Christian students
attended an outreach event. Many listened intently as
Giovanni explained the truths
of the gospel. Afterwards, a number of them wanted to learn more,
including a girl from Azerbaijan.
Seven Bibles were taken, as well as other leaflets explaining
Christianity. Pray that the
Holy Spirit will continue to work in the hearts of these young folk.
MACEDONIA
Olive
Wilson (Bitola) asks us to
pray for the shop in Bitola
which is open daily, distributing New Testaments, Bibles and
literature. Pray, too, for
the English/French lessons, mostly with individuals but also with a
group of Roma people who are learning English.
LEBANON
Annette
White (Tyre) is
grateful for answered prayer
in that she has now received her papers, allowing her to remain in
the country for another year. Also, two short-term volunteers now
have their papers. Permission is still being sought for one girl to
stay for a whole year. She is doing a great job at the school, so
pray that this will be
granted.
