Prayer Requests for Week Commencing:  13-02-12

The following information comes mainly from the Echoes weekly prayer bulletin and further details can be found on their web site. Other prayer requests have come from direct communication with the missionary involved.  The prayer requests listed here are, as far as is sensibly practical, for activities that are happening on the particular week. A list of previous weekly Missionary Prayer requests can be found here.

The Assembly also, most months, publishes a monthly Missionary Prayer Newsletter, for prayer requests on a longer time-scale. Click here for the last monthly prayer newsletter.

Robert Revie (Ethiopia 1969-1979) would value prayer as he plans to visit Ethiopia 8th March for 6 weeks. Pray for safety of travel, that he would be encouraged and be an encouragement to those he meets and pray for Sheena who will remain at home.

MOZAMBIQUE

Patrick Mulenga, Zambian mission worker in Mozambique, reports on recent flooding in the Zambezia Province of Mozambique.  He writes:

“The cyclone with massive rain has left the believers in Zambezia Province homeless and starving. It is another catastrophic natural calamity, men women and children are living in the hills. They have lost their homes and their maize fields have been washed away, while the fields of cassava are rotting due to flood waters. The most urgent need is for iron roofing sheets and food.

Last October when they were visited they had enough food, what they needed then was the written word of God (Bibles). It is sad that they have lost everything, including their place of worship.  The area has 58 local churches.”

Please pray for Patrick and his colleagues as they respond to this need. Some funds have been sent from the Echoes Disaster Fund and more will follow to help this acute need.

INDIA

Ron and Lilo Penny (Bangalore) - On Saturday 11th February in Kollegal, eight senior girls from the school were baptised. Pray for them as they grow in their faith.

JAPAN

Ken and Christine Cowell – Ken would value prayer for a Japanese church meeting at Milton Keynes on 19th February.

BAHAMAS

Mark and Carol Lacey (Bahamas) – Mark would value prayer as he is on route to India (see 30-01-12) in order to attend several conferences in Mumbai and Kolkata. Prayer would be appreciated for safety in travel, good health and that he would be encouraged and an encouragement to others during this time.

PANAMA

Clive and Hazel Walker (Santiago) – Five men from the assembly including Clive will be attending a Leaders conference (14th-17th February). The main speaker is Rick Johnson, who is with International Action Ministries, and works in Mexico. Please pray for those who will be speaking (Clive will teach one session), for safety in travel (5 hours each way), and a time of good fellowship for all those who attend.

ETHNIC MINORITIES

Malcolm and Ann Steer – Malcolm would appreciate prayer for a trip to the Iranian fellowship in Vienna, Austria 16th-20th February, where he will be completing a course on Biblical foundations which began in January.

REPUBLIC OF IRELAND

Noel and Liza Mc McMeekin – continue the Postal Bible Prize-givings at Cavan (13th), Monaghan (14th) and Cootehill (15th). Pray for good attendances at each venue over the coming weeks and for safety in travel.

Colin and Rosemary Sheldon (Dublin) - On 19th February the assembly is holding a Testimony evening.  Prayer is asked that many will be challenged by what God has done in people’s lives. In addition Rosemary would value prayer for the Ladies Bible study and Coffee Hour held once a month.  Pray that some of these ladies who have heard the gospel since they were girls, would make decisions for Christ.

Andrew and Lorna Burt (Enniscorthy) - ask for prayer for those who are not well but are attending the assembly regularly. Prayer is asked that God would speak into their lives.
