Prayer Requests for Week Commencing: 08- 10 - 12

The following information comes mainly from the Echoes weekly prayer bulletin and further details can be found on their web site. Other prayer requests have come from direct communication with the missionary involved.  The prayer requests listed here are, as far as is sensibly practical, for activities that are happening on the particular week. A list of previous weekly Missionary Prayer requests can be found here.

The Assembly also, most months, publishes a monthly Missionary Prayer Newsletter, for prayer requests on a longer time-scale. Click here for the last monthly prayer newsletter.

DEM REP OF CONGO

Remember in prayer Ruth Cushing as she seeks to be a blessing and encouragement to those she meets in this brief stay with Mary Ratter, and that she will be renewed and refreshed.

MALAWI

Dr Jonathan and Ruth Newell (Blantyre) - Please continue to pray for Ananda and his wife Grace and their two young children as they settle in Blantyre. They are a pioneering family in two ways: as cross-cultural mission workers from the Indian Brethren churches to Malawi; and as Asian Christians in Malawi. Their four year-old daughter has just started school and is finding it very frightening. Pray that she will soon settle and find friends.

PAKISTAN

Please continue to remember Ann Hughes (on DPG Pakistan 1969-1996) and Liz Greig (on DPG Pakistan 1981-11) as they move on to Faisalabad to spend a couple of weeks visiting various places, taking meetings, etc. Pray especially for safety and protection. In addition, Ann highlights an urgent need for doctors at the Women’s Christian Hospital, Multan, and would appreciate prayer that this need will be met.

BRAZIL

Harry and Beth Wilson (Porto Allegre) are returning to Brazil on 10th October, after a period of time in Northern Ireland, and will be attending a conference in Santa Cruz do Sol on the 12th. Remember them as they settle back.

PERU

Luis Mostacero (Trujillo) is currently in the south of Bolivia, preaching in an evangelistic event and teaching at an elders’ conference. Last Friday, 350 people attended a gospel meeting held in the Coliseum and 5 made a commitment to the Lord. Pray that the Lord will use His Word to touch many lives.

REPUBLIC OF IRELAND

Colin and Rosemary Sheldon (Dublin) - Recently, several people from the local assembly, including children, distributed copies of the ‘4you.ie’ gospel magazine on the local estate, and had some encouraging conversations. Please pray that further gospel opportunities will result. Colin would also value prayer as he teaches ‘Bible Explorer’ (14 classes per week), that these openings will continue and that he will be able to make the Bible real and relevant in the classroom.

SPAIN

Ken and Alison Barrett (Madrid) ask prayer as Ken leads a devotional time for the Spanish Bible Society staff on 10th October. Ken’s fellow elder at the Alcala assembly is a member of staff there. Also, Alison asks prayer for the Thursday evening ‘Rahab Run’ ministry among the prostitutes of Alcala. May the Lord reach them in their dilemma through consistent kindness and the power of His Word.

VARIOUS AREAS

Mike and Ros Buckley would value prayer as they visit Turkey, travelling on 10th October and returning 10th November. Pray for safety in travel and good health, and that their time meeting and teaching believers will be a time of blessing.

John and Claire Wadsworth (in Asia) would value prayer this week for a camp being held in a very remote primary school. There are 230 children, 72 of whom are pre-school. Prayer is asked for safety on the roads as they drive on extremely steep, narrow dirt tracks over the mountains. In addition, pray for their children, Rachel and Benjamin as they settle into internet schooling.

LOCAL

"Coffee and Chat" - an informal meeting, on a Wednesday morning at 10:30 am.

Ian Campbell (S. Shields) is planned to be with us on Sunday evening for the Gospel Service.
