MISSIONARY PRAYER NEWSLETTER

OCTOBER  2012

BOTSWANA

Joy GriffithsPray for Joy (right) as she makes preparations to return to Botswana in October, having recently been bereaved. Pray too that the short holiday that she has planned will be beneficial to her, and that the transition from the UK to Botswana will go smoothly.

KENYA

John and Yokey Roberts (Nairobi) (left)would value prayer as they reach out to an Italian neighbour, who spends time once a week with Yokey for English conversation. Pray for S that through contact with Yokey she will come to know Christ.

MALAWI

Jonathan and Ruth Newell (Blantyre) report that Mission worker Ananda and his wife and family have arrived from India to help with the work at Bethel Assembly. Pray that they would adjust quickly to life in Malawi, that the children would settle at school and find friends, and that Ananda would be a blessing to the evangelistic work in Blantyre.

JAPAN

David and Esther Dexter (Miyazaki) ask prayer regarding the increasing international tension between China, South Korea and Russia with Japan over various disputed islands.  Pray that this tension may not continue to escalate but that wisdom may be exercised on both sides. In addition David and Esther would value prayer as they prepare to return to the UK in November, for the final visits they will make to friends and contacts over the next few weeks, and for the continuance of the work they have been involved in.

ARGENTINA

Bobby and Isobel Jack (Buenos Aires)- Pray for the Sunday School at Quilmes which has experienced a 50% increase in numbers, many of the children coming from broken homes.

Jeff Watson (Foz, Brazil) would value prayer as he begins evening studies in Puerto (Argentina) to help build up the local assembly there.

Jim & Betty Burnett (Parana). The Paraná Assembly Conferences are due on October 5th to 7th. They would appreciate prayer for a time of blessing. This year, for the first time, a fellowship lunch is being arranged on the Sunday which may go on to about 4pm. After that folks who need to travel have time to get back home.  For some time now they have been having a full hall on Sunday evenings and some have been saved. One of the aspects of present day evangelism is that most people come with “baggage”.  One couple who lived in a common law relationship for years gave the example and got married. They were baptized and received into fellowship and have scarcely missed a meeting or activity since. They are key helpers in the New outreach in the North of the City.

CANADA

Peter Smith is busy with 2 weekend conferences at the beginning of October, and with Elaine is coming to England between the 11th—30th October, principally to see their respective “Mums”, but also for some report meetings.

ALBANIA

Enri and Sylvia Nase (Tirana) -A regular Saturday children’s meeting has begun and prayer is asked that those who attended last year will attend this year along with many new children.  On Saturday evenings they hope to have a tent on one of the promenades in the City, in order to offer medical counselling and general health advice to passers-by. During this time others will give out tracts and share the Gospel. Please pray for this outreach work.

BELGIUM

Anne Dryburgh (Kuurne) asks prayer for several lady contacts who have struggled with their personal lives but are determined in their search to know the Lord.  Pray for Anne as she ministers to ‘M’ and ‘C’, and also give thanks that another contact who has not attended the assembly for 20 years has now been attending regularly.

ETHNIC MINORITIES
Ruth Cushing (Wirrall)
would value prayer as she prepares to travel to Democratic of Congo and Rwanda in October. Pray for safety of travel, that her visa application will be accepted and available on time, that she would be blessed and renewed, and also be a blessing to those she meets.

FRANCE

Graham and Alison Black (Bouc Bel Air) - Please continue to pray for the ‘Voice of the Gospel’ ministry.  One station in North East France has begun broadcasting the 3 minute and 15 minute messages, and a station in Africa is also broadcasting the programmes.  Pray for further opportunities to spread the Gospel through this work.

They aim also to be able to offer a Bible Correspondence Course on every book in the New Testament. There is still no course for the books of Titus, Philemon and Revelation. The challenge at the moment is to try and write courses on the books of Titus and Philemon. Please pray along with them that they might be able to get courses written on these books as quickly as possible.

Alan and Valerie Kyle (Dunkerque) would value prayer for Alan who will be speaking at a retreat from 16-18th October and would appreciate prayer for this event.

Gerry and Dorothy Seed -‘Le Livre’ (The Book) is a Christian bookshop operating in the centre of Nantes for the past 9 years.  Gerry and Dorothy have been involved since its inception, but due to a retirement will be taking on more responsibility. They would value prayer for wisdom in developing this ministry in the city centre.

IRELAND

Michael McKillen (Gorey) asks us to remember in prayer the work started Gorey in 2005, when there were only 2 believers. Now a small Assembly has been started and since 2010 has been breaking bread in an upper room above a Café.

LEBANON

Andrea Smith (Tyre) would value prayer as another school year begins. Two new families will be joining the work force at the school, one who has been appointed as Principal. Pray that as they get to know each other and adapt to the new surroundings, that they will find a way of working effectively together.
