Prayer Requests for Week Commencing 07-09-09

The following information comes mainly from the Echoes weekly prayer bulletin and further details can be found on their web site. Other prayer requests have come from direct communication with the missionary involved.  The prayer requests listed here are, as far as is sensibly practical, for activities that are happening on the particular week. A list of previous weekly Missionary Prayer requests can be found here.

The Assembly also publishes a monthly Missionary Prayer Newsletter, for prayer requests on a longer time-scale. Click here for this month's prayer newsletter.

 DEM. REP. OF CONGO

Mary Ratter (Katoka) sends greetings and some news updates:

·  Cathie & Willie Rew have arrived back after being away for 2 years due to ill health; unfortunately Cathie has tripped and broken her wrist.

·  Bethany Smith from Wallsend went to Katoka on the 21st August to help as a short-term worker for 6 months. Her father, Peter Smith, went out with her, and stayed for 10 days until the end of  August. We we are asked to pray that she will settle in OK.

RWANDA

Chrissie Mulindabigwi (Kigali) (right) is travelling to the UK on the 10th September.  She is due to have surgery on 14th and will remain in the UK for about a month to convalesce. Pray for her as she travels, and for her recovery.

ZAMBIA

Doreen Lane, who previously worked at Ntambu, has asked us to pray for the work there. A youth Bible camp is planned for 12th and 13th September, and there will also be a Bible school for newly married couples from 19th to 21st September. Pray for the Lord’s blessing on these events.

BAHAMAS

Please pray for safety of travel for Mark and Carol Lacey, who return to the Bahamas on 11th September after a time in the UK.

CANADA

Peter Smith flies on Wednesday to Newfoundland for three different weekly series of Treasure Seekers in Labrador and Newfoundland, and plans to return on October 5th, God willing.

He asks us to remember his mother in prayer as she undergoes a knee operation this Wednesday. He asks also for us to pray that the Lord will then overrule with regards to him being able to get a flight over to see her in October.

FRANCE

Give thanks that Loic Packer (Laval) has now been discharged from hospital and was able to return to France with his mother, Alison, on 6th September. Pray that they will both continue to improve in health.

Gerry and Dorothy Seed (Nantes) are thankful that the new hall for the fellowship at Nantes East is almost ready. They are adding the finishing touches in preparation for next Sunday afternoon, when members of the main assembly in the west of the city will visit. Various outreaches are planned with a view to making contacts in this part of the city. Pray for the believers as they invite people to these events and seek to share the gospel.

REPUBLIC OF IRELAND

Colin and Rosemary Sheldon (Dublin) are having a special week of prayer with their assembly this week. Pray for a time of blessing and refreshment, both now and during the new season of activities.

SPAIN

Ken and Alison Barrett (Madrid) ask us to pray for wisdom and protection for the assembly at Alcala, which is being slandered publicly by the estranged husband of a lady who attends. Pray that she and her children will be protected from violence. A baptism service is planned for 13th September and the candidate is a long-distance lorry driver. He has invited many of his Romanian friends, and prayer is requested for his witness to them.

 LOCAL

"Coffee and Chat" on each Wednesday morning at 10:30 am.

The monthly visit to Wheatacres is arranged for this Sunday at 5:15 pm.

David Clark is responsible for the Gospel Service this coming Sunday at 6:30 pm.
