Prayer Requests for Week Commencing 06-12-2010

The following information comes mainly from the Echoes weekly prayer bulletin and further details can be found on their web site. Other prayer requests have come from direct communication with the missionary involved.  The prayer requests listed here are, as far as is sensibly practical, for activities that are happening on the particular week. A list of previous weekly Missionary Prayer requests can be found here.

The Assembly also, most months, publishes a monthly Missionary Prayer Newsletter, for prayer requests on a longer time-scale. Click here for the last monthly prayer newsletter.

MOZAMBIQUE

Zambian workers Patrick and Grace Mulenga will be running a children’s Holiday Club from 6th-10th December. About 200 children normally attend this event, so pray for good numbers again this year. Pray, too, for the team of young people who will be responsible for organising the various activities.

ZAMBIA

Julie-Rachel Elwood Chitokoloki)  is encouraged that several young people are being baptised, most of whom are in her volleyball team. Please pray that these young people will make wise choices in life and put the Lord first.

JAPAN

Tom and Nui Hill (Koshigaya) request prayer for an open-air meeting to be held on 18th December outside a large shopping mall in Koshigaya. The believers will be handing out invitations to the special Christmas services on Sunday 19th. All three assemblies in Koshigaya are involved in this outreach.

David and Esther Dexter (Miyazaki) ask for prayer for their outreach at the Christmas market on 10th December, when the international Bible study group will perform a nativity play.

The prison Christmas celebration is planned for the afternoon of 11th December, and the church Christmas service takes place on 19th December, followed by a bring-and-share meal. Pray for the Lord’s blessing on these activities.

BRAZIL

Please pray for Walter Alexander, (Vitoria)  whose health has suffered a setback (he had surgery for cancer back in August). He has had to cancel all speaking engagements. Remember also Elizabeth as she supports him during his illness.

CANADA

Peter Smith is currently in the UK visiting his mother in Devon; he is here until Dec 16th. Please continue to remember the 1800 or so PBS students and their families in prayer. Peter & Elaine have just sent out tracts and Gospel calendars to them. Please pray that these will be used much by the Lord to touch their homes and souls.

PANAMA

Clive and Hazel Walker  (Santiago) have recently received a shipment of 40,000 gospel calendars and tracts, which are being sent out to churches all over the country. So far, they have distributed about a third of these. In December, they will be delivering them door to door in the villages around Santiago. Pray for good contacts and conversations with local people.

FRANCE

Ian and Francoise Newberry (Pierrelatte) ask us to pray for their Gospel Negro Spiritual concert involving a choir of 40 people. A hall with 400 seats has been rented for the event, which is planned for 12th December. Church members will be distributing 3,000 tracts and 400 posters. Pray that many will attend and be convicted by the Holy Spirit.

Gerry and Dorothy Seed (Nantes) ask for prayer for their Christmas programme on 12th December. This will take place in a rented hall near the new assembly building at La Beaujoire, and will be for non-Christian friends as well as elderly folk from nearby sheltered accommodation. The Nantes West Christmas outreach service is on 19th December.

Chris and Michelle Hall (Chateau-Gontier) request prayer for their French Christmas service on 12th December, followed by a bilingual carol service on 22nd. Chris is also booked to speak in the Laval church carol service on 18th, and the Laval French Christmas service is the next day.

Alan and Valerie Kyle (Dunkerque) ask for prayer on 11th December, when the ladies will have their Christmas afternoon with an invited speaker from Paris who has a powerful testimony. The Christmas family service is planned for 19th December, and the clothes depot for the hostel residents will have a special programme on 23rd, when each of the young men will receive a small present and a gospel calendar.

Allan and Anne Kitt (Villefranche-sur-Saone) request prayer for their Christmas outreach programmes. On Saturday 11th, they plan to hold a Christmas service at La Clairière nursing home. Up to 250 people normally attend, including residents and their families, staff members and local officials.

REPUBLIC OF IRELAND

Andrew and Gillian Shanks (Newcastle West) took their Nigerian friend Joseph to the Police Immigration office last week. He was allowed to return with them to Newcastle West, but had to report back yesterday, Tuesday 7th, with a view to them starting the deportation process to travel the next day. The High Court case is on 20th December, but the police have issued a letter stating that he will be deported straight after his appointment on Tuesday, the 7th. Joseph’s solicitor is writing immediately to try and hold things until at least the High Court Judgement. Please continue to pray for Joseph and Christina.

Noel & Liza McMeekin (Drum) are visiting over 3,000 rural homes with a gospel calendar. Please pray that some will heed the world of God displayed on the calendar.

ITALY

Paul and Nesta Volle (Montespertoli) have received permission to distribute Bible reading calendars at the market in Montespertoli on 14th and 21st December. Pray for good weather and a good response from local people.
