Prayer Requests for Week Commencing 06-09-2010

The following information comes mainly from the Echoes weekly prayer bulletin and further details can be found on their web site. Other prayer requests have come from direct communication with the missionary involved.  The prayer requests listed here are, as far as is sensibly practical, for activities that are happening on the particular week. A list of previous weekly Missionary Prayer requests can be found here.

The Assembly also, most months, publishes a monthly Missionary Prayer Newsletter, for prayer requests on a longer time-scale. Click here for the last monthly prayer newsletter.

MALAWI

Jonathan and Ruth Newell (Blantyre) and their children travelled back to Malawi on 7th September. Pray for the family, especially Ruth, as they readjust to life in Africa.

JAPAN

Ken and Christine Cowell had a good meeting with the Japanese Christians at Milton Keynes at the weekend. Pray that the few unbelievers who attend will trust the Lord.

BRAZIL

Walter and Elizabeth Alexander (Vitoria) are in Queimados, on the outskirts of Rio, where Walter is booked to give ministry. He was unable to go last year due to cancelled flights, so felt he could not let them down again even though it is so soon after his operation. Pray that he will be given the needed strength.

FRANCE

Graham Black (Bouc Bel Air) reports with regards to a technician for the recording side of the radio ministry that there is someone who is considering the possibility and is taking time to pray so as to discern the Lord's will in the matter. He would therefore ask us to pray that if this is the right person for the job that things will work out and that he will be guided to join them.

They have been most encouraged lately by some prisoners who are doing Bible correspondence courses with them. It is obvious that some have come to a clear knowledge of salvation through doing the courses and have gone on to do other courses as well. This is now developing into some follow-up and one prisoner has written to them to ask for help and they would ask us to pray for this man, "Damien", that he may indeed be able to start a new life following his release, and that things will work out for him with the Lord's help.

REPUBLIC OF IRELAND

Colin Sheldon (Dublin) begins visiting primary schools again this week to offer the Bible Explorer lessons. Pray for new openings in this work. He hopes to start the first round of classes by the middle of the month.

ITALY

David and Marion Mead  have been invited to the assembly in Wallisellen, Switzerland, to give ministry for a few days. They will be there from 9th to 12th September and would value prayer that the Lord will use them during this time.

SPAIN

Ken and Alison Barrett (Madrid) request prayer for Ken’s visit to the OM ship ‘Logos Hope’ in the Canaries until 13th September. Please pray that many will be stirred to pray for Spain and that some would be called as workers. Pray for the evangelistic outreach in Las Palmas on Gran Canaria during this week, for unity among the churches and effective witness for Christ. Pray, too, that Alison’s Monday night English language discussion group will create interest in the gospel.

LOCAL

Coffee & Chat each Wednesday morning at 10:30 am.

Andrew Barber (Hartlepool) will (D.V.) now be responsible for the Gospel Service this Sunday evening, 12th September.

The Friday evening meeting of the North East Missionary weekend, 17th September, will now be held at REDCAR at 7:30 pm and not Darlington as indicated on the leaflets.
