Prayer Requests for Week Commencing 06-07-09

The following information comes mainly from the Echoes weekly prayer bulletin and further details can be found on their web site. Other prayer requests have come from direct communication with the missionary involved.  The prayer requests listed here are, as far as is sensibly practical, for activities that are happening on the particular week. A list of previous weekly Missionary Prayer requests can be found here.

The Assembly also publishes a monthly Missionary Prayer Newsletter, for prayer requests on a longer time-scale, but this is not currently available on the web site.

ZAMBIA

Give thanks that Doreen Barker (Chingola), who recently had a stroke, is now alert and able to recognise people, although she is still very tired and can only have two visitors at a time. Please continue to pray for her recovery.

MEXICO

Eglon and Judith Harris Orizaba) (right) are involved in a young people’s camp in Valsequillo, which will take place from 9th-11th July. Please pray for good attendance and a time of blessing and encouragement.

CANADA

Peter Smith is running a six day series of Camp Treasure Seekers in a Tent beside the 5th Avenue Gospel Hall in Portage, each evening from 6:30 - 8:30 pm.  The 5th Ave. assembly are particularly keen to see families from the community attend. Please pray for good weather for the week, safety, many parents to join their children and for a deep sense of the Lord's presence and power as we seek to speak of 'God's Man & God's Tent' (Moses/Tabernacle) and for His blessing in salvation.

EASTERN EUROPE

Martin Baker is in Sofia, Bulgaria, this week and would value prayer as he ministers the Word. He returns to the UK on 14th July.

REPUBLIC OF IRELAND

John and Linda Stanfield (Limerick) report that Jackie, who was mentioned for prayer last month, 15-06-09, has now gone to be with the Lord. His widow, Pauline, recently attended a Sunday service and we are asked to pray that she will attend again. She has promised to keep in contact with folks at the church.

Colin and Rosemary Sheldon (Dublin) will be running two weeks of children’s meetings on two caravan parks in Newcastle, County Down, from 11th-25th July. Pray for many children to attend and that they and their parents will be touched by the Lord.

ITALY

Leo and Angie Isac (San Miniato) ask for prayer for an evangelistic campaign which is being planned at La Scala in Italy, from 15th-18th July. This will culminate with the baptisms of Gina and Vincenzo, who were part of the discipleship group this year, and Amantina, a lady originally from Albania.

SPAIN

Ken and Alison Barrett (Madrid) ask for prayer for a national meeting of Brethren type churches to be held in Coruña (North West Spain) from 8th-11th July. Please pray for spiritual unity and wise decisions. After this meeting Ken will travel to Narón, near Ferrol, to give a weekend of training and orientation to an evangelistic team being organised in conjunction with Operation Mobilisation in Spain.

OTHER OVERSEAS SERVICE

Charles Morris (Greenvile, S. Carolina) will be travelling to New York in July for the graduation of over 30 students from the Muller Bible College. This is the first group to graduate and they want to go on to do more advanced studies. Another group of prospective students is lined up for the new three-year course. Give thanks for these encouragements and pray that the graduates will be blessed in their future service for the Lord.
