Prayer Requests for Week Commencing: 05 - 12 - 2011

The following information comes mainly from the Echoes weekly prayer bulletin and further details can be found on their web site. Other prayer requests have come from direct communication with the missionary involved.  The prayer requests listed here are, as far as is sensibly practical, for activities that are happening on the particular week. A list of previous weekly Missionary Prayer requests can be found here.

The Assembly also, most months, publishes a monthly Missionary Prayer Newsletter, for prayer requests on a longer time-scale. Click here for the last monthly prayer newsletter.

TANZANIA

Steve and Gill Davies (Dar-es-Salaam) -The latest news regarding the Kid’s Club in the Army Barracks is that they will be allowed to use classrooms of the Army Primary School, which will enable them to continue their activities even in the wet season, unlike the other Kid’s Clubs which are held out in the open.  All that is required now is an official letter from the head teacher to allow access, so that they can start in January 2012; please pray that this will be forthcoming.

ZAMBIA

Eric and Margaret McCaughren  (Kitwe)– This month a nationwide ‘Friends for Matthew’ outreach is planned, in which an evangelistic programme will be broadcast on national TV and radio on 3 successive evenings.  Believers are encouraged to invite family, neighbours and friends to their homes to hear the gospel. Pray that believers may catch the vision of this potential, so that many may truly be converted and added to fellowships of local believers.

JAPAN

David and Esther Dexter (Miyazaki) write that the prison Christmas programme will take place on the morning of 10th December. In the evening, the German Christmas Market will be held in the City Hall, and the International group are performing a Christmas drama. Pray that people will stop to watch and listen.

THAILAND

David and Maureen Wood (Chiang Mai) - The next major event is ‘Christmas in the Park’, an outreach to the local community sharing the real meaning of Christmas with songs, drama and a message in Thai and Korean. Pray for the young people and their parents involved in these ministries.

COLOMBIA

Anita and Kathleen Keith-Gillon  (Armenia) would value prayer as they travel to Cali on Friday 9th for a weekend seminar ‘Broken Cisterns’. On Tuesday 13th Anita is responsible for speaking at a seminar for pastors and leaders in Cali. Prayer is asked for all those present.

FRANCE

David and Brigitte Sutherland request prayer for the Fete de Noel, planned for 11th December. Pray that many will attend and be touched by the message of Christmas.

Valerie Kyle (Dunkerque) and the ladies at Petite Synthe church are holding a special outreach on 10th December, when a young full-time worker from Paris will give her testimony. Pray for help and for prepared hearts.

Mike and Alison Packer (Laval) – the Christmas outreach concert taking place on 9th December at Laval castle is being preceded by personal invitations, posters in the town, invitation distribution in the market and advertising in the local press and on country radio station. Pray that people will respond positively, enjoy the concert and want to know more about the Saviour.

REPUBLIC OF IRELAND

David and Kay Stevens -Some of the 2012 Irish Christian Calendars are to be distributed at an Open Air Carol Service on the streets of the City Centre 11th December, and David and Kay will also deliver some to houses in their street. Prayer is asked that these opportunities will lead to spiritual conversations.

PORTUGAL

Colin and Grace Lovell report that ‘My Hope’ evangelistic films are due to be broadcast on Portugal’s national TV from 8th-10th December. Believers from Aguas Vivas church are opening their homes so that folk can view the programmes. Pray that many will watch and listen, and want to know more.

LOCAL

Coffee & Chat each Wednesday morning at 10:30 am.

Stuart Gordon (Harrogate) is planned to be with us on Sunday next for the Gospel Service.

Wesley Downs (Manchester) has been asked by the landlord to vacate the premises he uses as a “drop-in” centre in Manchester by the 24th December. Please pray for the Lord’s guidance to Wesley with regards to the future of this work.
