Prayer Requests for Week Commencing 05-10-09

The following information comes mainly from the Echoes weekly prayer bulletin and further details can be found on their web site. Other prayer requests have come from direct communication with the missionary involved.  The prayer requests listed here are, as far as is sensibly practical, for activities that are happening on the particular week. A list of previous weekly Missionary Prayer requests can be found here.

The Assembly also publishes a monthly Missionary Prayer Newsletter, for prayer requests on a longer time-scale. Click here for this month's prayer newsletter.

PAKISTAN

Ann Hughes (ex Wallasey) was encouraged that 75 children attended the rally at which she was the speaker. She is currently in Faisalabad. Pray for safety as she travels, for physical strength, and for the Lord’s help in her ministry.

PHILIPPINES

Continue to pray for those affected by the typhoon flooding, especially Jonathan and Jingle Bradford (Manilla), who have lost all their furniture, almost all their clothes, books, mattresses and appliances. They are currently disinfecting their house and trying to salvage as much as possible, but the conditions are dire. The church building has been turned into a relief centre. Pray for safety from disease and danger. Pray that there will be a change in the weather, that relief goods and evacuation teams will reach those without food and water, and for the Lord’s peace.

BAHAMAS

Give thanks that Mark Lacey’s surgery on Saturday was successful. He will now undergo physiotherapy. He would like to thank everyone who has prayed and asks that we continue to pray for his recovery to enable him and Carol to return to the Bahamas soon.

BELGIUM

Anne Dryburgh (Gent) requests prayer for her contacts, especially one Christian lady who has experienced opposition from within her home. Through this trial she has grown in her faith, but has also suffered for the decisions made. Pray, too, that Anne will be helped as she leads a group where subjects relating to depression will be discussed. Pray that the Lord will work in people’s hearts as they deepen their relationship with Him.

FRANCE

Colin Crow (Montpellier) has a meeting at the Mayor’s office on 8th October concerning the need for land for new church premises. Please pray for him as he attends and presents the church’s proposal.

REPUBLIC OF IRELAND

Your prayers are valued for a special week of outreach in Drum assembly during the first week of November. The theme will be ‘God’s Power to Change Lives’ and will include six evenings of testimonies. Pray for Noel and Liza McMeekin as they prepare and distribute invitations to these events.

ITALY Paul and Nesta Volle (Montespertoli) (right) request prayer for a Christian Workers’ Conference being held in Chianciano Terme this week. Pray for the speaker, John MacArthur, and for the Lord’s blessing on this event.

SPAIN

Please pray for this coming weekend, when Ken Barrett (Madrid) will travel to Ferrol, in the north-west, to meet with other leaders. Please pray that from these meetings will emerge a structure and strategy of God to train both Spaniards and others to reach Spain for Christ.

Tim and Elena Glasscock  (left) are having a retreat for the Salamanca assembly during the second week of October. They will be looking at the subject of ‘Stewardship’. Please pray for the speaker, David Robles, and that the weekend will be a powerful stimulus in the life and witness of the church.
