MISSIONARY PRAYER NEWSLETTER OCTOBER 2009

MALAWI

Stephen and Gail Harper (Thondwe) (left) ask for prayer for their friends Zoe and Michael. Stephen and Gail have been trying to show the love of God to this couple since Zoe lost her brother unexpectedly a while ago. Michael has recently bought himself a Study Bible and says he intends to read it. He is a Freemason and took an oath to read the Bible, but hasn’t until now.

ZAMBIA

Bethany Smith (ex Wallsend) is settling in at Katoka with Mary Ratter. She has had a brief period of being unwell, and is finding it very hot with high humidity, but otherwise she’s fine. Please remember her in prayer.

PAKISTAN

Ann Hughes (ex Wallasey) during October plans to visit Kunhar Christian Hospital, travelling by car with Liz Greig. Pray for safety in travel, for good health and for a time of mutual encouragement.

THAILAND

Rupert and Janet Abbott (Chiang Mai) foster babies awaiting adoption. They have advised that the twin boys whom they handed over for adoption in July have been returned to them. Sadly, they were rejected by the adoptive parents, who thought their development had been delayed. Pray that these lively two year-olds will find a loving home.

ARGENTINA

Dick and Irene Robertson (Oran) are helping their son George in his schools work, which reaches hundreds of children every week. They also have nine Bible classes of their own. Pray for them as they teach these children the Word of God on a regular basis. An annual rally for all the Sunday schools is planned for 11th October. Pray for dry weather for this event, which is held in the open air.

BRAZIL

Jeff and Denise Watson (Foz) ask us to pray for Oscar, the brother of a lady in the fellowship. Oscar has a drink problem but has promised to change after suffering liver disease. He comes to meetings but has not made a commitment to the Lord as yet. His estranged partner, by whom he has three children, has agreed to marry him if he does change his ways.

Walter and Elizabeth Alexander (Vitoria), will be at Ituiutaba for a conference and special meetings from 3rd to 9th October. Walter will be speaking at the Missionary Conference in Sao Paulo on 10th and staying for the weekend. Please pray for Walter and Elizabeth as they travel and minister.

MEXICO

Eglon and Judith Harris (Orizaba) are currently revising the Daily Bible Readings and study materials for the first year of their four-year Bible teaching programme. Before printing these, they need to decide what changes are needed and which doctrines to highlight. Pray that they will be given wisdom for this task.

CANADA

Peter Smith returns home on Monday, 5th October and expects to be there for the whole month. He is coming to visit his mother, after her recent knee replacement, between Nov 10th-23rd.  She continues to do very well.

Numbers have picked up again with the Postal Bible School to just over 1500 students, but Peter would value prayer that they shall see the interest greatly increase and the real need for new teachers met. They particularly need brethren who would be willing to mark New Life Bible Studies, as they have had a number of male prisoners sign up.

SPAIN

Ken and Carmen Stunt (Almazan) ask us to pray for Daniel, a young man from Ecuador who lives in Soria. He recently came to Ken and asked for advice on how to study the Bible. He is a believer and has a real gift for getting alongside youngsters. Please also pray for the Thursday women’s group, the Friday men’s group and the fortnightly Bible study on Monday evenings, where they are currently going through Numbers.
