Prayer Requests for Week Commencing 03-05-2010

The following information comes mainly from the Echoes weekly prayer bulletin and further details can be found on their web site. Other prayer requests have come from direct communication with the missionary involved.  The prayer requests listed here are, as far as is sensibly practical, for activities that are happening on the particular week. A list of previous weekly Missionary Prayer requests can be found here.

The Assembly also, most months, publishes a monthly Missionary Prayer Newsletter, for prayer requests on a longer time-scale. Click here for the last month's prayer newsletter.

INDIA

Ravi Murmu (Evangelist, Jamalpur, Bihar) was brutally killed last Sunday night, 2 May, after showing the Jesus film with other evangelists in  Laxmanpur (Bihar). After the meeting he was alone as others had left a little earlier. When he didn't reach home by late night, a search ensued and they found his severally lacerated dead body. One hand was severally cut, and there were deep cut wounds on his neck and other parts of the body. The reasons for the attack are still unknown. His belongings at the time of attack were found intact including his motorbike, cell phone, watch & Bible, and so it looks as if he was murdered for his faith. He had been commended by the Bethel Assembly in Jamalpur, Bihar.

He leaves behind his wife, Rinku, an 8 year old daughter, Celesty,  and a mother.

JAPAN

Ken and Christine Cowell were encouraged last Sunday when Mrs Inoue trusted the Lord at the Milton Keynes Japanese church. They have talked with her several times in the past so were thrilled to see her finally take the step of faith. Pray that she will have assurance of salvation and grow in her faith. In Kushiro, one person is to be baptised on 9th May and two others are hoping to be baptised in the future. On 11th May Ken and Christine are making a three-week visit to Japan, so would value prayer for their time there.

ARGENTINA

Bobby Jack will be speaking at an assembly in Buenos Aires on 9th and 16th May, focusing on the first chapters of Daniel. Please pray for God’s blessing on the messages given.

CANADA

Peter Smith is currently in Labrador having a week of Treasure Seeker  children’s meetings inCharlottetownNext week he is in Newfoundland with the assembly in Flower's Cove for another Treasure Seeker's series. Their Sunday School is very small, just a couple of kids, so please earnestly pray that a good number of children will respond to this Friday's mail shot of invitations and the radio advert.  Then back to Labrador on Sat. 15th May for 5days to share in another series of ministry meetings with the three assemblies of L'Anse au Loup, English Point & Red Bay. He then concludes this visit to the east coast with a first time trip to Prince Edward Island for a weekend conference.

EASTERN EUROPE

Please pray for Martin Baker, who is currently visiting Poland to give ministry in various locations. He returns to the UK on Thursday this week.

REPUBLIC OF IRELAND

During May, Colin and Rosemary Sheldon (Dublin) hope to distribute 2,500 copies of an evangelistic magazine to homes around the assembly. Other workers will also be distributing the magazine in their areas. Please pray for a good response from this outreach.

ITALY

Paul and Nesta Volle (Montespertoli) have recently distributed tracts at five open-air markets in neighbouring towns, but have had little response so far. They plan to visit the market at Fucecchio sometime this month.
