Prayer Requests for Week Commencing: 02-07-12

The following information comes mainly from the Echoes weekly prayer bulletin and further details can be found on their web site. Other prayer requests have come from direct communication with the missionary involved.  The prayer requests listed here are, as far as is sensibly practical, for activities that are happening on the particular week. A list of previous weekly Missionary Prayer requests can be found here.

The Assembly also, most months, publishes a monthly Missionary Prayer Newsletter, for prayer requests on a longer time-scale. Click here for the last monthly prayer newsletter.

ZAMBIA

Sam Balmer (Fermangh) is visiting Chingola with a team of volunteers from Northern Ireland in July. They will be involved in several ministry projects. Pray for safety in travel, good health, and that they will be an encouragement to all those involved.

Julie-Rachel Elwood (Chitokoloki)– A batch of John’s Gospel has been acquired in the Lunda language, and distributed to patients in the hospital. One man has read his copy many times and completed an entire study in a few days.  Pray that he will understand the gift of salvation, as opposed to a belief that good works are sufficient. In addition, Julie-Rachel asks prayer for her friends who are in the process of furthering their education, especially believers following nursing careers, that some would return to Chitokoloki to serve both medically and spiritually after their studies.

EASTERN EUROPE

Martin and Margaret Baker would value prayer for their visit to the assembly in Sofia, Bulgaria, 3rd to 11th July where Martin will lead a series of studies on Hebrews.

ETHNIC MINORITIES

Malcolm and Ann Steer (Iranian work) – Malcolm would appreciate prayer as he speaks at a European Iranian Conference to be held in Holland from 5th - 8th July.

REPUBLIC OF IRELAND

Colin and Rosemary Sheldon (Dublin) will be involved in the Northfield Bible Week tent campaign from 7-21st July.  Their ministry will include leading 2 children’s meetings each day on local Caravan parks assisted by a team of young people. They will also be involved in the open-air meetings on the seafront and tent meetings each evening (the tent is able to seat 1,200).

Andy and Gillian Shanks (Newcastle West) – Please continue to pray for the ‘The Ultimate Decision’ (gospel outreach taking literature and materials to Agricultural shows) at Newmarket Show 8th July. In addition prayer is asked for Pat and a nun, who at a recent outreach spent time discussing the Gospel message. In addition please pray for Sinead, who has been attending the assembly with her children since they attended the Holiday Club at Easter.

SPAIN

Ken and Alison Barrett (Madrid) ask prayer for several outreach activities to begin shortly: The Operation Mobilization campaign began in Naron, Ferrol 30th June.  The team are mainly recruited from outside Spain and will be evangelizing a number of small towns in and around the OM Spanish Headquarters. Shortly after Ken’s return to Alcala in mid July, the GLO campaign begins. Pray for the team of which half come from Egypt. During the 8 days of outreach there will be children’s clubs, literature distribution and English conversation groups in the Kofi Jaus.
