Prayer Requests for Week Commencing 29 - 06 - 09

The following information comes mainly from the Echoes weekly prayer bulletin and further details can be found on their web site. Other prayer requests have come from direct communication with the missionary involved.  The prayer requests listed here are, as far as is sensibly practical, for activities that are happening on the particular week. A list of previous weekly Missionary Prayer requests can be found here.

The Assembly also publishes a monthly Missionary Prayer Newsletter, for prayer requests on a longer time-scale, but this is not currently available on the web site.

ZAMBIA

Echoes report that Doreen Barker (Chingola) has suffered a stroke and is in hospital, in a deep sleep. She had seemed to be recovering well from her hip fracture and had been walking with a Zimmer frame. Please remember Doreen and all the family in your prayers.

INDIA

Ian Elliott’s (Delhi) father is due to undergo surgery on 9th July, and prayer is requested that this will be successful. In addition, Ian and Anita have to find a new flat as theirs is due to be sold. There is a possibility that their rent will increase considerably. Please pray that the Lord will provide for their needs.

PAKISTAN

Liz Greig (left) is returning to Pakistan on 5th July after several months in the UK. For the next two years, she will be working as Administrator of Kunhar Christian Hospital. Pray for her as she takes on this responsibility.

 BAHAMAS

Mark and Carol Lacey will be coming to the UK for two months in July. Pray for Carol, who will be having medical check-ups, and also for the staff at The Haven as they keep things going during Mark’s absence.

ALBANIA

Enris Nase (Tirana) requests prayer for a Bible camp taking place from 6th-10th July, when around 15 teenagers (a mix of Christians and non-Christians) will be present. Pray for wisdom as Enris prepares the messages and for all the practical arrangements.

Peter Hedley will be returning to Albania on 3rd July. Pray that the Lord will bless his ministry and that he will be able to cope with the hot summer temperatures.

FRANCE

David and Brigitte Sutherland (Arras) are planning to give New Testaments and evangelistic booklets to teachers at their children’s school with whom they have had contact over a number of years, as their youngest daughter Meryl will be leaving the school this summer. Pray that the Lord will continue to speak to these members of staff.

Alan and Valerie Kyle (Dunkerque) would appreciate prayer for two special events being held in Petite Synthe church, Dunkerque, on 4th July. The puppet team is organising a special afternoon for children and their parents. It is usual for non-Christian husbands and other family members to go along to this, as well as non-Christian friends. Please pray for good contacts to be made.

REPUBLIC OF IRELAND

Colin and Rosemary Sheldon (Dublin) advise that 2,500 gospel magazines have been distributed into homes around the assembly. Pray that they will have opportunities for further contact with those who have received the magazines.

Andrew and Lorna Burt (Enniscorthy) request prayer for John, who put his faith in the Lord a few weeks ago. Pray, too, for a family who attended the church weekend. The mother asked for a Bible to read and the grandmother went along to the church one Sunday. Pray that they will continue to seek and eventually find the Lord.

Michael and Shirley McKillen (Gorey) request prayer for a craft club being run during the first week of July. Please pray that the Lord will bless this time and that fresh contacts will be made.

ITALY

Leo and Angela Isac (San Miniato) are  organising the GLO team outreach in Romania, which takes place from 3rd-13th July. Last year they had more than 300 children attending the two separate children’s clubs there. Please pray for safety as they travel and that God will have a real impact in the lives of these little ones.

MACEDONIA

Olive Wilson (Bitola) asks for prayer for a Roma believer who needs to have a tumour removed from her arm. She will have the operation in Skopje in the next week or two.

NORWAY

Niklas and Ellen ask us to pray for them as they make plans with Nat and Jennifer Rodgers for the work from August to Christmas. They hope to hold some evangelistic children’s services and some international meetings in English, as well as Norwegian services. Pray for the small group of believers as they invite people to the Bible studies and services, that they will be guided to those who will respond positively.

ROMANIA

Romanian GLO worker George Sortan reports that they have just finished two weeks of evangelistic meetings for children and adults amongst Romanians and Gypsies. Three gypsies were baptised recently in one of the villages. Pray for a new gypsy church building in Turnu Rosu and for wisdom in planting a new church.

SPAIN

Ken Barrett (Madrid) is  to join an outreach campaign at Naron, north- west Spain, organised by Operation Mobilisation in Spain. He will be involved in training the team of local believers and volunteers from other parts of Europe. Please pray that the weather will be good and that the Lord will give unity and effectiveness in making contacts in the locality.

FINALLY

Please pray for the GLO teams taking place over the next couple of weeks. These will be in Quimper, France, from 1st to 13th July, in Newcastle upon Tyne from 2nd to 12th July, in Hereford from 2nd to 13th July, in Talmaciu, Romania, from 3rd to 13th July, and in Birmingham, UK, from 4th to 14th July.

 LOCAL

"Coffee & Chat" each Wednesday morning at 10:30 am.

Peter Hartridge (Harrogate) is expected to be with us next Sunday for the preaching of the Gospel.
