REPUBLIC OF
S AFRICA
Paul
and Dorothy Grieve (Murchison) have
been encouraged to see three ladies being
baptised and brought into fellowship
recently. Please
pray
that these new believers will grow in the
knowledge of Christ.
ZAMBIA
Eric
McCaughren (Kitwe) keeps busy with
preaching in various locations. During the
second half of June (15-26) he will be
taking ten two-hour sessions on ‘Reaching
out with the gospel’. In July (2nd
week) he will be involved in a
Bible-teaching conference at Masaiti, and in
August (9-15) he will speak at the
Pan-African Conference. These are in
addition to regular engagements.
Pray
that he will be given the right material for
each occasion.
Pray
also for
Obed Mwape, who regularly interprets
for Eric and is involved in writing and
translating. He has cancer and needs more
treatment.
Margaret continues to take the
children’s Good News Club on Saturday
mornings. However, the couple who live in
the house in which they meet are moving out.
Pray
that the Lord will provide a suitable
alternative.
ETHNIC
MINORITIES
Malcolm
and Hannah Coombes recently attended
a conference for North African believers
living in France and were encouraged by
their enthusiasm in seeking to reach out to
their fellow countrymen, in France and in
their home countries.
Malcolm
had brought a lot of evangelistic literature
for them to use and they were delighted to
have this. Items which ran out are being
sent on by post. Please
pray
for these North African believers as they
witness to others from a Muslim background
JAPAN
David and
Esther Dexter (Miyazaki) are planning
special meetings on the
14th June
and 26th July. Please
pray
that these will be times of blessing and
encouragement for the believers and that
unbelievers will be challenged.
PAKISTAN
There is concern
about the current situation in Pakistan,
with the increasing influence of the Taliban
in parts of that land. There is increased
tension and Christians are worried about
their safety. Please
pray
for their protection and that the problems
will not worsen.
THAILAND
Peter
and Peggy Ferry (Phuket) report that
Thailand is going through a difficult time
this year. There is political turmoil and
many people have lost their jobs. Also, in
addition to the swine flu scare, there has
been an outbreak of a mosquito-borne disease
similar to dengue fever. Around 20,000
people have been hospitalised. Many are
talking about the situation, so
pray
that Christians will use this opportunity to
speak about their faith in the Lord.
Pray
also for
Peter as he speaks at a family camp
in Malaysia at the end of May, and then
gives Bible teaching in
Port Klang.
BAHAMAS
Mark and
Carol Lacey are spending the next
three weeks amongst the local churches in
Abaco.
During the last week of the trip
Mark
will be taking the ministry at
Marsh
Harbour Assembly’s annual camp.
Pray
for them as they travel around and seek to
give encouragement and help to the
believers. Pray also for
Sterling
and Troy,
who will be looking after the Haven in their
absence.
BRAZIL
Walter and
Elizabeth Alexander (Vitoria) ask
for prayer for
‘F’,
a believer who is struggling with a drink
problem. A long time ago he used to take
drugs, but he has remained drug-free for
many years since his conversion at a
rehabilitation centre. His wife is bitter
and has been telling him he is not a true
believer. Please
pray
for this man, that he will have assurance of
salvation and that the Lord will help him to
overcome his addiction.
Harry and Jean Reid
advise that because of
Harry’s
recent illness they will not be able to
visit Brazil this year. However, they hope
to go back to
Gort and
Loughrea
in the south of Ireland, where there is a
large Brazilian community.
Pray for
them as they visit folk they have met
previously and seek to make new contacts.
MEXICO
Eglon
and Judith Harris (Orizaba) (right)
report that 120 young people attended
the recent camps. Ten of these made or
confirmed their decisions for the Lord.
Pray
that they will continue to grow in their
faith. A young people’s convention is now
being planned, to be held in July. Your
prayers
would be valued for this also.
Pam
Jewitt (Mexico City) (left)
reports that another earthquake occurred in
Mexico City
last Friday, measuring 5.9 on the
Richter scale. She and the staff at the
children’s homes give thanks that the
buildings do not seem to have suffered any
damage and everyone is safe, although some
are suffering from shock. She also says that
the swine flu is officially over in the
city, but precautions continue.
Pray
that things will soon return to normal and
that the economy will improve.
FRANCE
Jonathan and
Amanda Hanley, who moved to
Dinan
some months ago, have still not been able to
sell their old house in Provence. One
prospective buyer withdrew just before
signing, which was a disappointment. Please
pray
that a buyer will be found soon.
Alison
Packer (Laval) requests continued
prayer
for her health. Some of her old symptoms
have returned, which is concerning. She has
been back to the doctor and will see the
surgeon on
5th June.
Pray
that they will find a solution.
Pray
too that
Mike and Alison’s son,
Sebastien,
will find an employer for his day-release
diploma, due to start in September. He is
awaiting the results of an interview he had
last week.
Ian and
Francoise Newberry(Pierrelatte) are
planning to move on
27th June
to a flat above the church, but work
still needs to be done to make it habitable.
Pray
that everything will be ready in time. Pray
also for
Olivier and Prescille, a couple from
the church who plan to start up a monthly
youth activity.
REPUBLIC OF
IRELAND
Noel and
Liza McMeekin are planning various
outreach activities during the summer and
hope to get young people involved.
Pray
that the Lord will bring together suitable
teams of helpers.
ITALY
Paul
and Nesta Volle (Motespertoli)
mention that the church is holding a special
outreach to coincide with the annual
Wine-Tasting Festival in
Montespertoli, which this year is
being held from
24th to 31st
May. They will have displays and book
tables inside the church hall to encourage
people to come in. Please
pray
for their testimony during this time.
LOCAL
"Coffee
& Chat" each Wednesday morning at
10:30 am.
John Wallace
(Hartlepool)
is responsible for the Gospel Service on
Sunday at 6:30 pm.
