MISSIONARY PRAYER REQUESTS:
APRIL 2017
ANGOLA
Please continue to remember in
prayer
Ruth Hadley
as she continues with her chemotherapy treatment.
Pray
that the side effects will be minimal, for good pain control, and
for all those involved in
Ruth’s
treatment.
D C R of CONGO
Josh and Keri Kaye
were with us at the beginning of March. A brief
summary of some of the items
Josh
mentioned is as follows:
Their
intensive language learning is continuing in London at the Alliance
Francaise school and hope to have completed this by the end of
March, but they still have a long way to go to be considered as
‘fluent’ French speakers. While they have made some enquiries about
where to go next to continue their language development, the Lord
hasn’t yet revealed what that next step should be.
Josh & Keri
feel that “feeding the poor” – literally and spiritually is their
calling.
Pray
that
Josh and Keri
would be able to research and collate an appropriate IT curriculum
for the secondary school and prepare other necessary resources to
facilitate improvements in both the primary and secondary schools.
Pray
too that the resources be found to re-instate a power supply for the
IT suite at the secondary school.
One area in which they have made some progress is in
planning the building of a house for them in
Katoka.
They have met with
Jim Smith
(formerly of Brass Tacks) who is planning a 3-month trip to
Katoka
from August to November this year to undertake several projects
including project managing and working on the building of at least
the shell of a house for them. They will then need help with the
interior of the house including joinery, electrical and plumbing
work.
RWANDA
Peter
and Jenny Andrews
praise God for the work of
Emmaus Bible Courses
in
Rwanda
and especially of Sam, the country director. Around 670 students are
studying in five prisons and 175 are soon to receive their diplomas
for studying 24 courses. There are also many students on the outside
of prison; one Muslim decided to study in order to know how to
counter the Christian faith, after 24 courses he accepted Christ as
his Saviour.
ZAMBIA
Jean-Luc
and Rita Hainaut
(Eliya)
would value
prayer
as they recently started the work of the
Emmaus Bible Courses
in
Bemba
and
English.
They would like to start with French and Swahili but are not yet
ready due to lack of courses, which they are still trying to source
as they are difficult to obtain in Zambia.
Timothy and Joy Beer (Loloma)
– Planning has started for the various camps and conferences that
will be held this year for Sunday school teachers, elders and
workers in the assembly, young people’s camps, etc. We would value
prayer
support for this planning that it may be in accordance with the
Lord’s will.
Also,
pray
for the elderly and other needy people in the area. This is the
hardest time of year to find food, as supplies from last year have
run out and it is a month or two before harvest. As a result,
Timothy and Joy
are presented with many practical needs each day.
THAILAND
Peter
and Peggy Ferry (Phuket) -
On
5 April
the assembly in
Phuket
town will baptise five new Christians. Another group are attending
Bible teaching on Thursday mornings in preparation to be baptised
later.
Pray
for
Peter
as he will be speaking at an Easter conference in Malaysia.
David and Maureen Wood (Chang Mai)
would appreciate
prayer
for the staff and students at
Grace International School,
as the arrival of the hot season along with the smog has caused a
range of respiratory problems including bronchitis and pneumonia.
Pray
for the staffing needs of the school for 2017-2018, that positions
would be filled quickly so that the necessary visas can be secured
in time.
CANADA
Peter
Smith would
value
prayer
for this
summer’s
tent plans, that the Lord would guide as to when/where each should
take place.
He would
ask
prayer
also
with regards to another visit to
St. Lucia.
An opportunity has opened up for him to return, for the two weeks 14th-28th
May (DV). One week will be with the assembly in
Soufriere,
as originally planned last month, and the second week to help with
Gospel meetings in a fishing village on the west coast. So he is
seeking the Lord’s mind about this possibility.
BELGIUM
Anne
Dryburgh (Rekkem)
–
Anne
would value
prayer
for a woman who used to be bitterly antagonistic to the faith but
has seen the Lord transform the life of her relative who is a
believer. During the last month she has had some devastating news
and has asked
Anne
to visit.
Pray
that she will open her heart to the Lord. In addition,
pray
for the different writing projects that
Anne
is involved in, in particular, the book she is beginning to write
for helping victims of assault, and also for the publishing process
for the book about helping women who have been emotionally abused.
FRANCE
Graham
& Alison Black (Bouc Bel Air)
report that
Graham
should complete his treatment on the
13th April.
The type of treatment has changed and is not as
aggressive as previously.
ITALY
Andy and Ruth Hamilton
(Rome)–
Pray
for an evangelistic effort at
Easter.
The plan is to distribute Gospels of John and evangelistic
literature along one of the main metro lines in Rome. The hope is
that there will be enough people involved to be at many of the
entrances and exits of the metro stations and to be able to share
the good news of the gospel.
REPUBLIC OF IRELAND
Noel
and Liza McMeekin (Drum)
continue the
Postal Bible School
prizegivings Please
pray
for safety in travel and for lives to be touched by the gospel
message.
SPAIN
Ken
and Alison Barrett (Madrid) –
Give
thanks
to the Lord for the full amount of 850,000 Euros which has been
given by the Lord’s people to cover the purchase of the
Red Box
preaching HQ in
Madrid.
Please also
pray
for their testimony to the family, as they travel to the UK for
Ken’s
Mum’s funeral on the
7 April.
Wesley Downs
hopes (D.V.) to have the keys in
April
for the new premises they expect to lease—it will
still be called “The
Mill”.
They need to install a kitchen, canteen, disabled
toilet and sorting room as well as installing new doorways, doors,
heating and ceiling. They would value our
prayers
in this respect.
He would value
prayer
also for the ongoing homeless work in Manchester city
centre. They are thankful for good numbers being reached with the
Gospel. There have been over 20 hearing the Gospel at the drop-in
centre recently which has been a real encouragement for those
involved.
