MISSIONARY PRAYER REQUESTS

 SEPTEMBER 2016

ANGOLA

Brian & Debbie Howden are planning in the Lord’s will to return to Camundambala this month for an extended stay. They would  very much appreciate our prayers, for them and for those they leave behind, that they might all prove the reality of His grace being sufficient as they face the changes ahead, the separation, and the distance.

ETHIOPIA

Robert Revie has just returned from a visit to Ethiopia and tells of a further expansion of the work. Assemblies are springing up in new areas as the work of the Gospel spreads, and another encouragement is the training of Sunday School teachers and increasing numbers of children coming under the influence of the word of God. Please remember in prayer.

MALAWI

We are asked to follow up in prayer the recent Malawi Gospel Outreach. Over 30,000 Seed Sower texts were distributed,  and thousands heard clear and faithful presentations of the Gospel. Over 2000 Seed Sower texts were distributed in Zomba prison. Opportunities for open air preaching were extensive and people were pleased to listen.

ZAMBIA
Julie-Rachel Elwood (Chitokoloki) Julie has been praying for the last few years about building a purpose built house for her various ministries.  Her current accommodation is not conducive to hosting guests and does not allow space for the sorting or storage of supplies (Sunday school prizes, medical supplies, gospel literature, baby bundles etc.), or for the youth work and teaching. Please pray that the Lord will send people to help with this endeavour.

In addition, please pray that the problems with the water system on the Chitokoloki station will be resolved soon.  At the moment they sometimes only have water available for an hour of the day. The temperatures are rising and going through the hot season with poor water supplies will be very uncomfortable.

David and Grace Croudace (Zambia)  recently received 50,000 Luvale John's Gospels. This the first printing of the new Luvale translation of the N.T. Many copies have been handed out  to every believer who felt a burden to spread the gospel. Pray that as they evangelise in the villages, they will be helped and be used by the Holy Spirit to bring many to the Lord.

THAILAND
David and Maureen Wood (Chiang Mai) would appreciate prayer as they move into the new temporary accommodation for Grace International School. David is taking on the role of heading up a project to purchase and construct a suitable prefabricated structure as well as continue his teaching role. Please pray for David as he takes on this extra responsibility and that the move will go smoothly.

Fabrizio & Elaine Toni (Chiang Mai) ask for prayer for the following:

-  Please praise God for His provision of the new premises for Grace International School.

-  Please praise God that the building was operational in time for the start of the new term.

-  Please pray for the continued building work that needs to be completed - shower block, art room, tech ed. room

-  Please pray that Rebecca (their 3-year old) would continue to settle in well to preschool and for her Christian Thai teacher to be a shining light in the school.

-  Please pray that our wee boy (due in 4 weeks) would grow well over the next four weeks of the pregnancy, that Elaine would put on more weight and that he would turn in time for a natural birth.

ARGENTINA
We have been informed that
Betty Burnett (DPG 1974-2016) was called home on 29th August 2016.

BRAZIL

Harry Reid and Mike McKillen are scheduled to return from the Amazon delta region on the 9th September. Please remember in prayer this service for the Lord; may it have been a big encouragement to the local Christians.

IRELAND

Andy & Gillian Shanks (Newcastle West) are busy preparing for the ‘Gospel Literature Irland’ outreach at the National Ploughing Championships held from the 20th – 22nd September in Tullamore, Co Offaly.  As you can imagine, there is a lot of preparation required for this outreach, and more importantly a lot of prayer is needed,  and they would appreciate our prayerful support in this matter.

ITALY
Rod and Debbie Jones (Naples) would appreciate prayer for all those affected by the recent earthquake. Please pray for the families of the victims, for those who have lost their homes, so that the burden of their suffering may be lighter, and ask the Lord that in their pain, they may know the salvation which the Lord Jesus Christ offers. Echoes of Service has forward monies to assist in the relief operation.

NORWAY
Nat and Jennifer Rodgers (Skien) would value prayer for the next few weeks which will be spent in preparation for visits to various churches on the island of Karmøy, and for finalising Bible studies for prisoners in Skien prison. Remember the various pieces of literature available in the prison library available for prisoners of various nationalities, that these might be used, as in the past, to the salvation of some!

ETHNIC MINORITIES
Ruth Cushing (Merseyside) would appreciate prayer for 'A' who Ruth was recently able to link with a local church. Ruth is currently studying the “What the Bible Teaches” Emmaus course with her. 'A' is an asylum seeker and although previous applications have been refused, she is currently submitting a further application in the hope that this request will be granted. Please pray that God’s will might be done, and that she will grow in her faith as she leans on the Lord and learns to trust Him.
