DEM. REP. OF CONGO
Dr Peter and Ruth Coates (Retired workers) would value prayer for the elections which are soon to take place in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Please pray that these will be conducted fairly and that there will be no unrest during this period.

Mary Ratter returns home on furlough to Whitley Bay on the 18th August.

MALAWI

Stephen Harper, with a team of young people will be distributing Gospel literature in in the Zomba area of Malawi from the 8th to 21st August. There will also be an open air witness, hospital, village evangelism, and helping with Children’s work.

It is estimated that over half of the 17 Million population in Malawi is under the age of 16. Malawi is recognised as the world’s poorest country and is facing the worst drought in 30 years.

ARGENTINA
Jim and Betty Burnett (Parana) Betty is in intensive care for pneumonia, poor kidney function and low blood pressure, but is now showing improvement and her vital signs have stabilized. Please pray for her and for Jim as she continues to recover.

Heber and Fiona Gallitto (Parana) have an outreach event at Rosario del Tala- Entre Rios from the  12th -15th August. They would appreciate supporting prayer for this campaign.

BRAZIL

The Rio Olympics run from the 5th—21st August. 250,000 Evangelistic Booklets in 10 languages have been printed. The booklet is entitled “The 7th wonder of  the world” & traces the history of the “Christ the Redeemer” statue that looks down on the 6.5 million people of Rio.

Please remember Brazil in prayer especially during the month of August when the decision will be made as to wither the President will lose her office, and what will happen after. Praise The Lord that He is over all and in Him we trust.

Pray too for the many young people who will be attending camps. Pray for the young people in the assembly that study in the evening that they will blessed during these holidays.

James Crawford  (Sao Joaquim da Barra) keeps well and continues to visit the 11 Assemblies in the area.

BELGIUM
Anne Dryburgh (Rekkem) would appreciate prayer for those who received John’s gospels that she distributed last week. Please pray that these will be read and that hearts will be changed by the Lord.

As always, she meets with many women for discipleship on an individual basis. The women she meets with come from 5 different countries, are of different age ranges, and have a variety of life circumstances. Please do pray for the living word to speak into their lives and for them to know the life and hope our Lord brings.

She asks for prayer for one woman in particular. She has been a Christian for a couple of years now. When she grew up she did not know who her father was and hardly saw her mother. Before becoming a Christian, she had been in a number of abusive relationships and her children tend to treat her in the same way. It is encouraging to see how the Lord is changing her and seeing her tell others about Him.

ETHNIC MINORITIES
Ruth Cushing (Merseyside) – would value prayer for the many difficult situations she has encountered in recent months amongst her friends, and also as a result of events in the UK. These have included divorces, house moves, asylum claims, bereavement, major surgery, domestic violence and the month of Ramadan, which gave many opportunities to share the Gospel. Pray that through practical help shown by Ruth, her friends will see the love of Jesus. Pray for 'A', who has a difficult situation, and who Ruth has been discipling for the last few months. 'E' is completing an Emmaus course, pray for her salvation. Please also pray for two Muslim men who were led to visit the home where Ruth and a group of believers were having a prayer meeting. Please pray that they will turn to Christ.

FRANCE
David and Brigitte Sutherland (Lyon) – would value prayer as they attend a camp at the Centre des Jeunes from 6-20th August. The camp is attended by around 200 people and their role will be to be available for campers to talk to and share problems they may have. Pray they will be spiritually fresh, willing to listen and able to discern what the Lord’s will is for these different people.

In addition, please pray for two local men. The first is a baker with whom they have had a number of spiritual talks. He is very open, but is convinced that Islam is the answer. The second is a man whose wife is a member of the church. He is a non-practicing Muslim. Please pray that the Lord will reveal himself to these men.

IRELAND

Andy & Gillian Shanks (Newcastle West) would appreciate prayer for Gillian’s mother who is suffering from pancreatic cancer. All treatment has now been stopped.

They are busy preparing for the ‘Gospel Literature Ireland’ outreach at the National Ploughing Championships held from the 20th – 22nd September in Tullamore, Co Offaly.  A lot of preparation is required for this outreach and more importantly a lot of prayer is needed and they would appreciate our prayerful support in this matter. They hope to visit other smaller shows and fairs throughout the summer as the Lord leads.

Michael & Shirley McKillen (Gorey) continue with a Holiday Bible Club till the 5th August. This is an opportunity to reach many children who rarely, if ever, hear the gospel. There will also be literature distribution, door-to-door work, a teenagers’ club.  Pray that hearts will be touched by the gospel.

In early August Michael is  accompanying his father-in-law, Harry Reid, to Brazil for numerous preaching engagements, a conference, and to encourage believers in the Santarem area. Pray for safety and stamina in travel as well as help in sharing preaching responsibilities.

ITALY
Giovanni and Hannah Donato (Siena) – Giovanni will be visiting Indonesia at the beginning of August for the Lausanne Young Leader’s Gathering. Please pray for safety of travel and that all those attending will be inspired by what they learn.
