MISSIONARY PRAYER NEWSLETTER
APRIL 2016 |
|
ANGOLA
Brian
& Debbie Howden
return to
Camundambala
on the
5th April,
and they would value our ongoing
prayer.
Ruth
Hadley (Saurimo)
reports
that last month nearly 20 young people from
Camundambala
were baptised, many of them ex pupils from the school. Please
pray
that they will continue to grow and that they will be genuine in
their profession of faith.
BOTSWANA
Joy
Griffiths (Gaborone)
would value
prayer
for a man who recently needed shelter from a sudden rainstorm. He
was on crutches and on his way back from the clinic. He lost his
leg to cancer in 2007 and was given a false one. After staying for
a conversation he received a Bible. Please
pray
for him.
TANZANIA
Steve
& Gill Davis (Dar-es-Salaam)
are having their hardest time since their arrival in
2003. Personnel issues are at the heart of it with some teachers
playing the system, being awkward and unfaithful. “Things” are going
missing and it’s rare for anyone to tell the truth . Material things
are beginning to wear out, and psychological pressure is ever
present. The assembly is now very small contributed by a lack of
commitment and responsibility to the things of God. If it had not
been for the Lord’s presence and strength, and the encouragement we
have been finding in His Word ‘my
feet would have almost gone; my steps would have well-nigh slipped.’
(Psalm
73:2).
We write this not to moan, or for you to feel sorry for us, but to
share this side of missionary life which is rarely talked about.
Undeterred we press on and the children are enjoying singing and
learning the scriptures – Isaiah 53 is the current project! WWT is
an all-weather venue so Friday’s Kids’ Club has seen no
interruption. With regular attendance of over 250 children we count
it a privilege to be able to reach so many with the Word of God.
ZAMBIA
Philip and Deborah Cole (Chingola)
would appreciate continuing
prayer
for their daughter
Emily
who has started her fourth course of treatment. Please
pray
that she will remain strong for the physical and emotional side
effects of the treatment and that she will become less homesick over
time. In addition, please
pray
for
Philip
who is currently in Zambia, putting as much as possible in place for
the next weeks and months at
Ipusukilo,
and for
Molly
(aged 1) who will be staying with her grandmother
during this time.
Graham and Stephanie Reed,
Sheffield, were scheduled to leave the U.K. on 29th March. They have
applied for a work permit application which will enable them to get
a business visa on arrival in Zambia. Please
pray
that their work permit will be issued quickly to avoid any legal
complications. They will be based at
Sachibondu
and will be involved in a variety of ministries there and in the
surrounding area. Please
pray
for safety of travel, good health; that they will quickly settle
into their respective roles and be a blessing and encouragement to
those they meet. In addition please
pray
for continued help in the discipline of language learning and
remember their family who will remain in the UK.
Barry
& Rachel Haigh
are visiting
Nyangombe
from mid-April to late July. They will be engaged in
Bible Teaching at the school.
JAPAN
Ronnie
and Anne Cairns (Retired workers)
will be flying to Japan on 22nd
March, returning on
26th
April.
It will be a busy time of preaching, Bible ministry
and individual pastoring. Please
pray
for safety of travel and for blessing and guidance during their
visit.
PHIIPPINES
Jonathan
and Jingle Bradford
– Please
pray
for
Jingle
as the summer heat is triggering her Asthma and making life hard for
her. In addition, please
pray
for the classes on the Book of James that
Jonathan
has been preparing for, that will be commencing shortly.
Pray
that there will be a good attendance and that many will respond to
the gospel presentations at the end of each session.
THAILAND
David and Maureen Wood
would value
prayer
for the decision regarding the future location of the school.
Pray
that an appropriate temporary location will be found while the new
land is developed. In addition,
pray
for the applications and interviews for the teaching positions that
will be taking place in the next few weeks.
Peter Smith
writes that at a recent adult Gospel Series in his home Assembly,
30—40 children & Teens were in attendance. Sadly none of them made a
profession of faith. It is the intention now for
Peter
to focus part of the regular Gospel Service on them, and so
April 10th, 17th, 24th, May 1st,
the first half of the Gospel Service will be to share the Gospel
with them, simply and visually.
BELGIUM
Ann
Dryburgh (Rekkem)
thanks those who have
prayed
for Belgium at this difficult time. Belgium has been a secular
nation for many years now. She asks that as well as
praying
for their physical safety, please
pray
that this would be a time for many to think about matters of
eternity and to see their need of salvation.
NORWAY
Nat
Rodgers (Skien)
would appreciated
prayer
for the weekend
8 – 10 April
when a number of brethren from various assemblies and
churches will attend an in-depth study of the book of Judges. The
main purpose is to encourage elders, leaders and one another to be
faithful to God’s word in a day when extreme liberality has crept
into many churches, causing confusion and undermining the authority
of the Scriptures.
Pray
also for safe journey for those who will be attending. The seminar
is being held north of the Oslo Airport, and for some this will mean
long car journeys while others will travel by plane.
SPAIN
Ken
& Alison Barrett (Madrid)
ask us to
please
pray
for the
Red Box HQ
(the centre for open air preaching) in the
Puerta del Sol,
Madrid, which will have to be vacated by the 1st May unless a
purchase package can be put together with the new owners in a short
time. Please
pray
for the Lord´s provision of the premises and wisdom in searching and
negotiating over these next few weeks.
OTHER OVERSEAS SERVICES
Peter and Riitta Hedley
would value prayer for
Jordia,
one of the women interviewed by the committee to take over from
Marijan
at
the Hiding Place
children's home. She will be mentored by
Marijan
in May.
Pray
that
Jordia
may be the Lord's choice. The work of the orphanage depends on
committed, spiritual leadership and skills in dealing with the
Albanian government's various agencies.
