MISSIONARY PRAYER NEWSLETTER

JANUARY 2015

ANGOLA

Brian & Debbie Howden are planned (D.V.) to return to Saurimo from the 6th to 29th January. Tim Gooding (Romania) will be accompanying them to assist in some practical work, including fitting a false roof in their home and also at the new Hall at Leprosaria.

They have arranged meetings with the believers at Camundambala for a week at 6.00 am each morning, and they would appreciate prayer for these meetings, that they will build up and encourage the local Christians.

They anticipate there will be numerous daily occasions when they will need the wisdom of the Lord, and ask that we pray that they might know the Lord’s hand upon them in every way.

ZAMBIA
Julie-Rachel Elwood – The mission at Chitokoloki relies very much on the internet for communications, ordering of supplies and receiving medical reports etc. Pray that the necessary help will be available when technology fails. Also recently the digital x-ray system failed and they have been unable to x-ray patients. Pray that this will soon be resolved.

Elections are to be held on 20th January following the death of the incumbent Michael Sata on 28th October. There are 11 candidates. Pray that freedom for the Gospel will be maintained and a president will be elected who has a servant heart for the 14 million people of Zambia.

PHILIPPINES
Jonathan and Jingle Bradford (Manila) – Prayer partners will be aware of the difficulties and sadness they have experienced recently, and because of this they have decided to bring their furlough forward, leaving the Philippines on January 14th.  Pray that they would have safety in travel, and that they will have a time of relaxation and refreshment whilst in the UK.

BRAZIL

Jeff and Denise Watson (Foz Do Iguaco) ask prayer for a children’s camp in Carangola starting on 19th JanuaryPray for safety in travel, and spiritual blessing. In addition, pray for Jeff who will be having the damaged nerves in his back cauterized on 20th January. Pray that this will free him from pain for some time, allowing much more mobility.

ARGENTINA
Jim and Betty Burnett (Parana) ask prayer for two Gospel outreaches and those involved in this work from the assembly, and for the monthly visits to various assemblies for Bible teaching. Prayer is also asked for a couple newly commended from the Paraná assembly, Nelson and Roxana Gallitto, who are involved in a weekly outreach to ‘street people’.

PERU
Richard and Pam Harknett (Trujillo) ask prayer for Richard and Luis Mostacero as they travel to the jungle for teaching programmes in January and February.

BAHAMAS

Peter and Sandra Brind (Cardiff) are planned to travel to the Bahamas on December 31st where they will spend time at Seaside Gospel Chapel, Guana Cay and also Marsh Harbour Gospel Chapel, returning
to the UK on February 26th. Pray for safety in travel and that they would be a blessing and encouragement to the believers they meet.

Mark and Carol Lacey (Nassau) – With the New Year comes the start of a new weekly Bible study for the ‘students’ of The Haven rehabilitation programme. It is a vital and foundational ‘tool’ in the recovery and ultimate salvation of these men. Pray for all the staff involved in their rehabilitation, and that these men would emerge with a firm knowledge of the Gospel, and a relationship with Christ.

ALBANIA

Peter and Riitta Hedley ask prayer for the needs at The Hiding Place, Gjirokaster, Albania, and for someone to oversee the orphanage in the coming years.

BELGIUM
Ann Dryburgh (Kuurne) – Please continue to pray for her as she meets with individual women, many of them coping with difficult home situations and relationships, but eagerly seeking to grow in a relationship with the Lord. Pray for wisdom, gentleness and courage as Ann helps and encourages these women.

FRANCE

Pray for all those serving in France, that as the people are preoccupied by the recent events, believers will be courageous in expressing their faith, and bold to witness when given the opportunity, in an atmosphere of suspicion and tension.
Graham and Alison Black (Bouc Bel Air) – Please continue to pray for the ‘Voice of the Gospel’ ministries. Pray that more people would be available to record messages to broadcast on the radio, and pray that these messages will be a source of blessing to many when they go ‘on air’. On Friday 23rd they will be starting up the Christianity Explored group again after a break during the festive season.

Ian and Francoise Newberry (Montpellier) - Pray for Ian as he travels to French Guiana from 22nd January – 2nd February to conduct a seminar for church leaders in four different locations.

IRELAND

Mike & Shirley McKillen (Gorey) ask for prayer support for a new Evangelistic study starting the 12th January for 6 weeks. They are also still looking for suitable new premises for the assembly to meet in.

ETHNIC MINORITIES
Ruth Cushing – Please continue to pray for the ministries with which she is involved in Liverpool. The Toxteth Women’s Centre averages sixty five women each session, and has a waiting list of thirty. Recently three of the women attended church with Fliss (the centre manager). Pray also for the MBU (Meetings for Better Understanding) which haven’t taken place as often as they would have liked, that they will take place soon, and be effective in sharing the Gospel.

LOCAL

Keith & Marian Bullock ask prayer for the Open Air Work in which they are engaged. Keith is not well at this time and has cancelled all his visits for January.

Derek Taylor (Wallsend) has a full calendar of School visits across Tyneside for the next quarter. Please remember in prayer.
