ANGOLA
Brian & Debbie Howden
are planned to return on the 10th October for
three weeks.
REPUBLIC OF S.
AFRICA
Rodney and Joy Brown (Cape Town)
will be responsible for a Holiday Bible Club
being held from 6th
- 8th
October
at
Belhar, where fifty children are expected to
attend each day. They would appreciate prayer as they
prepare, that those expected would attend, and that it would be a
time of blessing. This is the first Bible Club arranged by the
Belhar Assembly.
TANZANIA
Steve
and Gill Davies (Dar-es Salaam) – Pray for the ongoing
work at the WWT. The Kid’s Clubs are well attended
(sometimes as many as 250 children!) At the Friday Kid’s Club the
children have been learning various Bible verses and if they are
able to recite them all they receive a Bible. Pray that these
children will grow in the knowledge of Christ and hold a continuing
love of God’s Word.
ZAMBIA
Barry
& Rachel Haigh
are going back to Nyangombe on
the 8th October until 11th December. This will be into the
wet, hot season when the mosquitoes proliferate and hence the
possibility of malaria and other illnesses, so would greatly
appreciate your prayers. We have not carefully planned and
prepared the trip as we usually do but go trusting the Lord to sort
out any problems which may come.
The court hearing that was to have been last July was cancelled at
the last minute and we have heard nothing since. It is all very
frustrating but quite normal for Africa. Nevertheless do please
continue to pray about this.
INDIA
Ian and Anita Elliott (New Delhi) - Pray
for Ian, Mridrika, Mrinalina and Izaaj
who are in the UK. In addition, pray for Anita in
Delhi, that she will receive her visa as soon as possible enabling
her to travel to the UK and join the rest of the family.
PHILIPPINES
Jonathan and Jingle Bradford (Manila) ask for
prayer as they have been hit by very heavy storms and rain
causing flooding to the main areas of their home. The water outside
has been very fast moving and they ask prayer for safety and
also for good health as Jonathan has been forced at times to
wade to safety through water which is chest deep, unclean and
infested with rats and snakes.
BRAZIL James Crawford (senior worker)
- Recently a Brazilian worker living in Jacaraú reported that six
young people had been baptised in the assembly there. In Jacaraú
they also have a daily radio
programme, which is relayed to Duas Estradas where there is now an
assembly.
PERU
Peter and Anne Grover (Lima) - Please pray
for the IBEM (Instituto Bíblico de Entrenamiento Misionero)
teaching ministry. During October and November Peter will be
teaching a course on the Synoptic Gospels written by Richard
Harknett. The majority of the students belong to the local
assembly but several come from other churches in Lima.
BELGIUM
Anne
Dryburgh (Kuurne) – Thirty women attended the ‘Purpose for
Life’ sessions and were challenged about living for Christ.
Please continue to pray for these women, as many are dealing
with depression, abuse or addictions. In addition, Anne would
appreciate prayer for a number of women she is meeting with
to study the Scriptures, some who are in abusive or difficult
situations.
FRANCE
David and Brigitte Sutherland (Lyon) - Pray for
Brigitte as she is at present involved with counselling
several women, and also continuing with the Emmaus
correspondence work. Recently they have been able to provide courses
for French speaking people in a Rwandan prison.
Gerry
and Dorothy Seed (Nantes)
– Please pray for their daughter Laura
who is travelling to Chad on October 3rd
for six months mission and medical work. Pray
that she would have safety in travel and settle well into the
culture, climate and routine.
Graham & Alison Black (Bouc Bel Air)
ask
for supporting prayer as the Assembly needs
several people to take up different roles, particularly in the
Sunday School.
REPUBLIC OF IRELAND
Noel
and Liza McMeekin (Drum) – Pray
that
God will bless the Postal Bible School
work and that it would be a means whereby many children would come
to know Christ, and be encouraged to live for Him.
Andrew
and Gillian Shanks (Newcastle West)
- The outreach at National Ploughing Championships last week went
well and they are thankful for the many people who received
literature and ‘John
3’
bags.
In the region of 280,000 people attended. The Lord
provided a great team to work together distributing
John 3
bags, Bibles, tracts, CD's and children's materials.
By grace we were able to distribute all 30,000 bags.
They
were blessed with many good conversations and ask
prayer that the Lord would bless the seed sown. So far eighteen
people have sent in a reply card requesting a Bible or a
correspondence course. In addition, pray for them as they
will be holding a stand at the ‘Home and Lifestyle’ show held
in a Limerick hotel from the 3rd
– 5th
October,
where
they will be distribute literature, bags and calendars.
ITALY
Andy
and Ruth Hamilton
(Rome)– Pray for the launch of a new
activity, Christianity Explored, a ten week course
aiming to answer three key questions using the Gospel of Mark.
Pray that contacts would accept the invitations, participate in
the course and discover more about Jesus Christ the Lord.
SPAIN
Ken and Alison Barrett (Madrid) ask prayer
for the teaching of sketch-board preaching which Ken will
give in an open air preaching conference from the 2nd
– 4th
October
in
Madrid. Pray that through this teaching many
may hear and respond to the Gospel.
