MISSIONARY PRAYER NEWSLETTER

DECEMBER  2014

ANGOLA

Brian & Debbie Howden report that on the last visit Debbie didn't receive her residence permit so please keep praying that this will shortly be forth coming. Ruth Hadley is also waiting for her residency permit to be issued.

God willing the Howden's next visit is on the 7th Jan - 30th Jan 2015 and they hope to be accompanied by Tim Gooding (Romania) who will be doing some carpentry/joinery work. Please remember in prayer that Tim’s visa  will be given soon; our prayers for this would be appreciated.

KENYA
John and Yokey Roberts (DPG 1966-2013) – Please pray for the distribution of 50 copies of the New Testament amongst the watchmen studying the ‘Source of Light Correspondence Courses,’ that they would be a source of encouragement and guidance to all who receive them.

REPUBLIC OF S. AFRICA

Paul and Dorothy Grieve (Murchison) - Give thanks for recent encouragement with the Emmaus Bible courses. Please pray for a prison inmate, M, who has completed all the courses and seems to have trusted the Lord.

ZIMBABWE

Deryck Jones (Bulawayo) expects to be in Harare in the first half of December for the distribution of seed and fertiliser. Activities in Bulawayo) are in full swing: teaching, preaching and caring for the needy.  Our continued prayers and support are greatly desired and appreciated.

ZAMBIA

Barry & Rachel Haigh are expected back from their 4-month visit to Nyangombe on the 11th December. Barry reports that during November they had 7 people baptised and one young man of 18 who trusted the Lord.

Hilary Millard (Chingola) – Please continue to pray for Amano Christian School. Pray for the children that they would have continued spiritual growth, for the teachers that they would have strength and enthusiasm in teaching, for house parents in the care of boarding students, and also for the work carried out among the local communities.

Jean-Luc and Rita Hainaut (Eliya) have returned to Zambia and plan to remain there for 3-4 months. Please pray for them as they travel back and forth between Zambia and Belgium and that God will give them strength in all that they do.

Eric and Margaret McCaughren (Kitwe) - Recently 14 student nurses attended a Christianity Explorer Bible Study and the improved attendance has been encouraging. Please pray that these young people may attend regularly with a real commitment to study God’s Word and apply it in their lives. Pray for an opening to start a regular Bible Study in the largest University in Kitwe (9,000 students).

Timothy and Joy Beer (Loloma) - Please pray for the hospital and village outreach every Monday afternoon and for the Bible teaching opportunities at the local high school and nursery school.

INDIA

Anita Elliott (New Delhi) has been granted a visa to visit the UK, and should be present at her daughter’s (Mrinalini) graduation at Teesside University. This is an answer to prayer since the visa application was first turned down, and then after appeal to the authorities, was fairly quickly granted.

IRAQ

The result of what is happening in Iraq is truly overwhelming and catastrophic. People who once had homes, cars businesses and churches now have nothing. The situation in Jordan is also desperate; every day more and more refugees are entering the country. The men cannot work to support their families; there is no Schooling and no health care.

Many children are traumatised by the desperate situation which may affect them for the rest of their lives.

Winter is approaching and these families have largely fled with nothing to protect them for the months to come.

Only the Lord knows the outcome and whether this is in His purposes. For ourselves, we can pray, especially for our brothers and sisters in Christ, who will have been caught up in the turmoil.

BOLIVIA
Mario and Helen Ponce (Cochabamba) - Pray for nine people who are attending baptism classes. One of these candidates, Johnny, made a commitment to Christ six years ago after a request was made by Roxana, his girlfriend, for Mario to visit Johnny in prison. It has been a hard road for Johnny and Roxana, who have two young sons. Please pray for this family.

CANADA

Peter Smith asks that we continue to remember him in prayer. December is a very busy time with the PBS mail-out schedule.

PANAMA
Clive and Hazel Walker (Santiago) would appreciate prayer for the distribution of calendars to eight towns that have no gospel witness. Please pray that the distribution will be successful and that the calendars will encourage all who receive them.

ALBANIA

There are now 330 evangelical missionaries active in Albania, 160 of whom live in the capital Tirana. They come from Mexico, Brazil, South Korea, Holland, Germany, Italy, America, Canada etc. During the past 20 years of evangelism, one in every 175 Albanians has professed faith in Christ. Every major town has several evangelical churches and the capital has well over 50, some of which have well over 200 believers. Further a growing number of villages now have evangelical churches. Glory to God for what He has done during the past 20 years!

Enris Nase (Tirana) continues with prison ministry. Jehovah's Witnesses who have also visited the prison are no longer welcome by the inmates, which has given opportunity to answer many questions.

The Bible Exhibition is now in full use. The local Christians are very impressed with what they are able to see and learn. Dozens of non-Christians visit and Enris spends time going around with them, explaining the panels and introducing them to the Gospel – for many it is the first time.

The Children’s Home at Gjirocaster now only has 6 children. We are asked to pray for a suitable person/couple to replace Marijan when she retires.

BELGIUM
Anne Dryburgh (Kuurne) - asks for prayer for the mother of a young lady she meets with. Prayer would be appreciated to be able to talk to this lady, for the continued work of the Lord on her heart and for her salvation.

FRANCE

Graham & Alison Black (Bouc Bel Air) asked for prayer in the past concerning the need for more Sunday school teachers. They are happy to say that some people have come forward. The need is even more important now as a good number of young families have joined them and they have more children than ever before.

IRELAND

Andy Shanks asks for prayer support for their monthly visit to the Cheshire Home (Newcastle West) this coming Sunday (7.12.14) for a time of singing carols and distribution of Calendars. They would particularly ask prayer for 3 people from the Home that attended last time.

Noel & Liza McMeekin (Drum) ask for prayer support as they distribute over 3000 Gospel Calendars in their rural areas.

Mike McKillen (Gorey) asks for prayer for the distribution of 4500 Calendars in the town and surrounding area. Unsaved spouses continue to be a prayer need for some in the Assembly.

NORWAY

Niklas & Ellen Kreander (Skien). Praise God Ellen is much improved and able to move around the house and go for short walks. She is still suffering from occasional headaches and dizziness but they are less frequent than they have been. They thank the saints for all their prayers and would ask for continued prayer for a full recovery. Please continue to pray for them as a family.
