DEM. REP.
of CONGO
Mary
Ratter (Katoka) –The women’s
annual conference is to be held this year at Katoka
from 4th
– 7th
August. Pray for safety in
travel and that the messages will be relevant and challenging to
those who attend. In addition, the Hospital administrator, owing to
embezzlement needs to be replaced. Prayer is asked for
wisdom in this that the person chosen will be a committed Christian,
able to stand firm and not be intimidated by the family of the
previous administrator.
MALAWI
Stephen
Harper—Plans are presently underway to take a group of brethren
and sisters to Malawi in August for further Gospel work, and
we will value your prayers for this work. 10,000 bi-lingual
Seed Sower Scripture Texts have been printed and will
be distributed in a variety of locations, Lord willing. We know that
a large proportion of these will adorn the simple homes of many
Malawians for a long time, Lord willing, so please pray for a
real blessing upon God’s word.
Lord willing, we plan that three full
pallets (about 3.5 tons) of literature, including around 100,000
Gospel magazines and Scripture calendars together with a large
quantity of tracts will be sent in the near future, as we try to
improve our ability to meet the increasing demand for Gospel
literature in Malawi. Please pray for safe transit and the
Lord’s blessing upon His precious Word.
REPUBLIC
OF S. AFRICA
Terry and
Jane Gilpin (Port Shepstone) –
An African girls’ camp is due to be held in early August,
please pray for a time of blessing.
JAPAN
Tom and Nui Hill (DPG 1973-2012) would value prayer
as they meet with Japanese contacts to discuss spiritual matters.
They have been sharing the Scriptures with Noriko, and a
young man called Chihara has recently been attending the
Gospel meetings. Pray that they, and their partners, would
come to a full knowledge of Christ.
PAKISTAN
Please continue to remember in
prayer
Yunis Laaldin.
ARGENTINA
Dick & Irene
Robertson (Oran) inform that, God
willing, at the end of August they are having special
meetings with Charles Morris (USA) a missionary to Spanish
speaking people wherever they are. Charles was born in
Argentina but he has never been to Oran. They are all
praying and looking forward to his ministry.
Charles
will be spending all of
August and part of September in the north of Argentina,
particularly in the provinces of Jujuy and Salta.
There are over 150 thriving Assemblies in these 2 provinces.
FRANCE
The European Workers Conference in Lyon (16th
– 22nd
August) is in need of two
workers, in the nursery, and two workers for the 7-11 year group.
Pray that these posts will be filled.
Graham and
Alison Black (Bouc Bel Air)
would value prayer for ‘The Voice of the Gospel’
ministry which consists of three main
avenues of service: radio programmes, Bible correspondence courses
and the printed page. Eight more radio stations have asked to
broadcast programmes and the number of people requesting the courses
are encouraging. They ask prayer for the different aspects of
the ministry to be used for God’s glory and that many hearts and
lives will be touched through them.
In addition,
they give thanks that Christine (the radio
technician’s wife) who was involved in a car accident with her twin
sons in May of this year, has left the clinic after intense
physiotherapy, and is home with the family.
REPUBLIC OF IRELAND
Michael and Shirley
McKillen (Gorey) –
Please
pray for a summer outreach from 21st
July – 8th
August
when Holiday Bible clubs will be held, a ‘Teen Week’
(which is a new venture) and Door to Door outreach
undertaken. They ask prayer for sufficient helpers, for the
power of the Lord in salvation, and for the edifying of the
assembly.
David
and Kay Stevens (DPG 1970-2012) – Pray
for the street outreach which takes place regularly in
Dublin. Recently David had the opportunity to speak to ‘Gul’
from Pakistan, who listened intently to the message and questioned
him further about Christianity, showing what appeared to be a real
interest in who Jesus really is. He assured David that he
would be back with more questions once he had read the Gospel of
John. Please pray for ‘Gul’.
Andy and Gillian
Shanks (Newcastle West)
– Recently a craft
evening was held as a Gospel outreach and Gillian had
the opportunity to share a short message at the end. Prayer
is asked that six non-Christian ladies who attended would see their
need of salvation.
ITALY
Rod and Debbie Jones (Naples) – Pray for Rod
and Alec Catchpole speaking at a ten-day young adults camp at
Bethel in Foggia Province, from 30th
July – 9th
August.
SPAIN
Ken
and Alison Barrett (Madrid) – Please pray for more
dedicated helpers to assist with the Kofi Jaus (coffee
house). Also pray for protection for those who minister on
the ‘Rahab Run’, and that there will be more
volunteers to assist in this outreach work to prostitutes.
BRASS TACKS
Alan and Sheila Park
would
value prayer for the Brass Tacks team working on the
school for children with special needs at Wukwashi, Zambia.
Building work is going well, but there have been many other
difficulties, from transport, to planning permission, to
immigration! Pray that the Lord will overrule in these
matters.
OTHER SERVICE
Please
remember in prayer the Lord’s servants who are working
in parts of north-west Africa which are affected by the ebola virus.
Dr. Kent Brantly, a doctor working with “Samaritan’s Purse”
and Nancy Writebol of the Sudan Inland Mission, are in a
serious but currently stable condition after contracting Ebola while
working with
Samaritan's Purse
in Liberia. They face critical days ahead. There is no known cure
and fatality rate ranges from 60-90%.
