KENYA
John
and Yokey Roberts (Nairobi)
ask for sustained blessing on the watchmen who are
studying the Bible through correspondence courses.
Pray
for
John
as he visits the students each week to help and encourage them, and
as he spends time on the coursework corrections.
LESOTHO
Mark and Malichaba West (Maseru) –
Five new volunteers have joined the staff at
Scripture Union,
appointed by the Lesotho government Ministry of Youth to work for a
year.
Prayer
is asked that the Lord will use these volunteers, challenging their
personal faith throughout their year of service.
TANZANIA
Ron and Maria Cunningham (Moshi) (senior workers)
would appreciate
prayer
for the student ministry. Since July
Ron
has been able to sell 160 Bibles at a reduced price and it has been
encouraging to see the students using these during Bible class. As
well as meeting with the students
Ron
has had opportunities to speak at school assemblies.
Pray
that this ministry would lead young people to enjoy studying God’s
Word and bring them closer to knowing Christ.
ZAMBIA
Barry
and Rachel Haigh (DPG Zambia 1966-2006) -
During their present stay in Zambia they have taken
part in a 5 day bush conference with 500 adults and 250 children,
followed by a children’s 5 day camp with 776 children. Many
professed faith in Christ.
Pray
that as they go back to their villages and schools that the reality
of this will be proved. In addition, please
pray
that the dispute over the ownership of the land at
Nyangombe
will be resolved as soon as possible. The court hearing that was
scheduled for 17th
September has been postponed, and a new date has not yet been
agreed.
Julie-Rachel
Elwood (Chitokoloki) -The
grip of the spirit world involving witchdoctors is such that many
people are blinded to the causes of their diseases, believing their
problems to be the result of witchcraft or curses, so that they do
not get appropriate treatment.
Pray
that the truth of the Gospel will enter lives and free them from
superstition.
Julie-Rachel
asks
prayer
that the Lord will continue to provide Christian workers at
Chitokoloki
with a desire to serve the Lord and the people. The pull to study
nursing and then leave to work in the bigger towns in Zambia is
great.
Hilary
Millard (Chingola)
would appreciate
prayer
for staffing needs at
Amano Christian School.
For the start of the January term two primary teachers are needed
as well as secondary teachers of any discipline, but especially
Science and Humanities. In addition, she would value
prayer
for a baptismal service to be held on
6th
October
when three students will be baptized.
ZIMBABWE
Deryck Jones (Bulawayo)
writes that all things are
in full
swing - teaching, preaching and caring for the needy. Our continued
prayers
and support are greatly desired and appreciated.
PHILIPPINES
Jonathan and Jingle Bradford (Manilla)
ask
prayer
for
Marti,
who runs two discipleship groups and is helping to run a singles
ministry at the assembly. He has just been thrown out of his house
and disowned by his family for following Christ.
Pray
that his family will have a change of heart, that
Marti
will have wisdom to know how to reach out to them, and
pray
that
Jonathan and Jingle
will have wisdom in the advice they give
BRAZIL
Jeff and Denise Watson (Foz)
ask
prayer
for a Greek/Argentinean friend who is struggling in tough economic
circumstances, and asking
Jeff
questions about sin and forgiveness.
Pray
for wisdom for
Jeff,
and that this man would come to a saving knowledge of Christ.
Jim and Carmen Jardine (Uberlandia)
having received a delivery of gospel tracts by
Bert Cargill,
would appreciate
prayer
for the distribution.
CANADA
Peter
Smith
writes that
the
month of
October
begins (D.V.) with the monthly PBS mail-outs followed by three
conferences. Two local ones, with a trip to a small assembly in
Alberta
in between. Then he and
Elaine
fly out to Labrador
and
Newfoundland
for a 12 day visit from the
16th October.
We shall take in a couple of conferences, as well as visit four of
the smaller assemblies along the coasts of
Labrador
and western
Newfoundland.
We have a good number of sisters who mark
PBS
for us in this area, so we also hope to encourage them in their
faithful labours, as well as recruit some new ones. We would value
prayer
for the many miles ahead to be travelled, for fresh and helpful
Christ-centred ministry to encourage the saints and for the ongoing
work of the PBS Centre during our absence.
PERU
Peter and Anne Grover (Lima)
- During
October
the assembly will be holding a series of meetings on mission.
Pray
for
Peter
as he prepares to speak at one of these meetings, and then as he
travels to
Trujillo
to teach at a retreat, and
pray
for
Anne
that she will be given wisdom to know whether to take on the
responsibility for a Saturday conversation class, which would
involve a lot of preparation. In addition,
pray
that they would be granted their residency permits which expire on
8th
October.
Charles and Gloria Morris (USA)
would value
prayer
that
Charles
would be able to visit Buenos Aires for the 50th
anniversary of the Missionary Conferences (held every 3 years) and
where he has been asked to give a message on
October 13th.
Recently
Charles
had two cataracts removed, one of which is taking longer to heal due
to complications.
FRANCE
Graham
and Alison Black (Bouc Bel Air)
would appreciate
prayer
concerning the future of the work of the ‘Voice
of the Gospel’
ministries. The immediate need is for more people to
mark correspondence courses.
Bill
(who is very unwell and in hospital), and his wife
Anne,
are involved in the marking of correspondence courses, the
quarterly magazine, Bible text calendar and other publications.
Pray
for
Bill
and
Anne
at this difficult time, for
Graham
and
Alison
as they undertake the necessary initial tasks, and for more people
to become involved in this ministry.
NORWAY
Margaret Hewitt
– Please continue to pray for her son
Graham,
who is to undergo an operation.
Pray
that this will bring him some relief and that he will make a good
recovery.
Nat Rogers (Skien)
asks us
to remember in
prayer
the witness in
Skien.
He is particularly concerned about irregular attendances by some at
the services. Please also
pray
for planned visits to the west of Norway for various meetings. The
journey takes over 7 hours, is quite exhausting, and as winter over
the mountains is fast approaching,
prayer
for safe travel is greatly appreciated. They enjoy the fellowship
with the believers at the various churches that they visit, and
count it all joy to be a help in their witness and service for the
Lord.
LOCAL
The Open Air Mission (OAM)
are visiting
Middlesbrough
in the first full week of
October.
