MISSIONARY PRAYER NEWSLETTER

MARCH  2013

ANGOLA

Brian & Debbie Howden continue with their visit to Camundambala returning to this country on the 10th March (D.V.). Please remember in prayer (see February ‘Missionary Prayer Requests’ for details).

BOTSWANA

Clark and Hazel Logan (Gaborone) – In March plan to have gospel meetings in their home. In the past God has blessed this work by saving a number of friends and neighbours, who are now in fellowship. Pray for further blessing.

KENYA

John and Yokey Roberts {Nairobi) ask prayer for peace and stability in the country in the lead up to the forthcoming elections due to start on 4th March.

REPUBLIC OF SOUTH AFRICA
Rodney and Joy Brown (Cape Town) ask prayer for Brian, a young Zulu, working as a security guard close to the Bellville assembly.  He has attended the assembly several times and has recently confessed faith in Christ.  Pray for his growth as a believer and protection from false teaching from other groups.

TANZANIA
Steve and Gill Davies (Dar-es-Salaam) - The plans to hold another ‘Kid’s Club’ in the barracks have not transpired due to the ‘link’ with the Army authorities not being forthcoming. Pray that there may be another way to resolve this issue.

William and Eunice Rea - BBC (Berea Bible College) has plans to start a purely aural course designed for those who cannot read or write. Pray for William and others at the BBC, as they discuss this with local church leaders. They also hope to go out to rural areas more often, to run short courses of their choice. With poor rains recently, and bad harvests, many people who would like to study the Bible more, are unable to afford to attend BBC.

Ron and Maria Cunningham (Moshi) would appreciate prayer as they visit small assemblies to encourage believers in the faith. One such visit was to the Little Assembly at Mawala recently, where the meeting place, having been destroyed by a Nocturnal Storm, was under an achaia tree. When Ron arrived a man, Paul, was sitting under the tree, and several people, including children arrived as Ron was speaking. Afterwards, Paul made an open profession of faith in Christ. Pray for him and for all the believers in these isolated places, and pray for the continuation and progress of the Lord’s work in these regions, and that new workers would be called to serve.

Ron would also appreciate prayer for his ministry within the Secondary schools, and for Maria, having the opportunity to contact women who appreciate her midwifery advice and care.

BRAZIL
Jim and Carmen Jardine (Uberlandia) ask prayer for Valerie, a young girl who has been to several assembly meetings with her grandparents, but her father is opposed to her attending.

CANADA

Peter Smith asks us to continue to remember in prayer the PBS work which now has 2100 students.  He is planning to have a Gospel Booth again at the Brandon Winter Fair at the end of March, DV. Please pray that these efforts will result in many good conversations and the recruitment of some new PBS students.

Since the beginning of the year he has been sharing responsibility for a Monday night children’s work held in a local school. They plan to end the series in mid-March with a full week of special nightly meetings, DV.

He asks for prayer for the Lord’s guidance on how he should use  his time this year—concentrate on PBS or travel extensively again?

PERU
Luis and Anne-laure Mostacero (Trujillo) - Luis would appreciate prayer for the night classes beginning in March, when he will  teach ‘Learning how to teach the Bible’.

ALBANIA

Enris and Sylvia Nase (Tirana) would appreciate prayer for a 19 yr old student associated with the Jehovah Witness movement. Enri has been meeting him regularly since making contact at a book fair. Pray that the young man will be open to the Gospel of Christ.

BELGIUM

Anne Dryburgh (Kuurne) – About 10 years ago Anne met with two young women and requested prayer for them.  Both had experienced very harsh childhoods.  Recently Anne met with them again, and was encouraged to hear that they are both serving the Lord with a desire to enter mission.  Please continue to pray for these two ladies, and many like them, dealing with hardships and sometimes feeling very alone in their faith.

FRANCE

Mike and Alison Packer (Laval) - Mike continues to visit Laval prison weekly and would value prayer that he would have wisdom in dealing with both the inmates, who are very often depressed, and the prison authorities. Pray also for Iman who leads the weekly prayer meeting, and for the monthly services held at the prison.

Allan and Anne Kitt (Le Havre) - Allan would appreciate prayer as he compiles the text from about 40 authors for next year’s devotional calendar; he would appreciate prayer that the task would be completed in good time, to pass to the printers, and that the calendars will prove helpful for those who read, and increase their appetite for the Scriptures.

ITALY

Andy and Ruth Hamilton (Siena) - Ruth would value prayer as she continues her language study, and for Andy who is working with teenagers, and is involved in preaching and teaching. They also ask prayer for Pierluigi who has been attending the assembly for several months, that he will make a commitment to Christ, and for Manuel and Francesca, who are new believers.

REPUBLIC OF IRELAND
Colin and Rosemary Sheldon (Dublin) – Please continue to pray for the ‘Bible Explorer’ lessons. After half-term and leading up to Easter Colin will take a further 10 classes per week.

LOCAL

Please continue to pray for the Seed Sowers Weekend due to take place in Gateshead over the 8th to the 10th of March. They are aiming to ’post’ 20,000 Seed Sower bags with a gospel text and invitation card.

Ian Campbell  continues with Open Air work every Thursday at 12:00 noon in Sunderland. Please remember in prayer.
