MISSIONARY PRAYER NEWSLETTER

DECEMBER  2013

ANGOLA

Brian Howden is expected back in the UK on the 5th December.  He sets off on the 2nd; pray the Lord to overrule travelling.

DEM. REP. OF CONGO
Mary Ratter (Katoka) – The ladies from Dilolo Gare have arranged a pre-Christmas conference on 17th December and have asked Mary to be the speaker. She would value prayer for this opportunity, that the message given would be relevant and touch the lives of those present.

TANZANIA
Stephen and Gill Davies (Dar-es-Salaam) – Pray for the new Friday Kids’ Club at WWT. At the first meeting 181 children arrived. Pray that the large numbers of children would be manageable and that the believers from the local assembly would be willing to help.

ZAMBIA
Dominic and Ethne Bourn - Please continue to pray for the staff and students at Chengelo School as they enter the final week of term, which is always extremely busy. In particular remember Dominic and Ethne and their family who have been unwell in recent days and have not yet regained full fitness.

Hilary Millard (Chingola) would value prayer for the staffing needs at Amano Christian School, including a site manager, building supervisor, kitchen manager and dorm parents. Hilary would also appreciate prayer for her great-niece Helena (14yrs) and for her family.  Helena is at present undergoing chemotherapy.

Barry and Rachel Haigh (DPG Zambia 1966-2006) - The court case that was due to take place in Kitwe regarding the ownership of the land at Nyangombe has been cancelled and re-scheduled for 29th January 2014. Pray that this will go ahead, and that the situation will be resolved as soon as possible.

JORDAN
Please
pray for Manara International who plan to distribute ‘Joy Bags’ (containing food, toys and blankets) to Syrian refuges over the Christmas period. Jordan  has been a refuge for refugees from Palestine, Lebanon, Iraq, and now from Syria. Pray that the Jordanian believers and relief workers will seize the opportunity to show the love of Christ & make an impact on Muslim people.

(see also Echoes Publication, “Reaching the Muslim World”).

PHILIPPINES

Paul and Gerrah Kulikovsky are commended by assemblies in Australia and minister in Guiuan, report that the typhoon first made landfall in Guiuan early on November 8, 2013. The roof of the assembly was blown away leaving mud and debris in its wake.  Please remember in prayer the Kulikovsky family and other missionaries as they begin to help the many families impacted by the typhoon. Nearly everything in Guiuan was destroyed.

THAILAND
David and Maureen Wood (Chiang Mai) would value prayer for the annual “Christmas in the Park” event when students, staff and parents of Grace International School combine talents and resources to bring together a programme for around 1,000 spectators. Pray for this event being one of the main opportunities to share about the real meaning of Christmas to the surrounding community. They request fervent prayer for them.

BRAZIL

John and Claudete Axford (Tupi Paulista) – Recently a group of believers and non believers who meet in Oswaldo Cruz (100km from Tupi) invited John to teach scriptures on a variety of matters.  This took place and 20 people attended. It was encouraging to find many asking for Biblical references so that they could study further at home. Pray for this group, that they would continue to have a hunger for God’s Word, and pray for those who as yet have never made a commitment to Christ.

CANADA

Peter Smith writes: As we now wait upon the Lord for His leading in 2014, I’m conscious of Paul’s words - a door was opened unto me of the Lord” (2 Cor. 2: 12). We would appreciate your prayers for humble and submissive hearts that are ready to faithfully preach His Word wherever and whenever such doors are opened by the Lord.

FRANCE
Colin and Maureen Crow (Montpellier) ask prayer for the second round of the presidential elections taking place on 20th December in Madagascar. Many are doubtful that this will produce a real change but the country desperately needs a stable government with the interest of the people at heart. There are a growing number of small fellowships of believers; pray for their growth in maturity and for the training of competent leaders.

REPUBLIC OF IRELAND
Noel and Liza McMeekin – During this month they will be distributing 3,000 gospel calendars to rural homes within a 10 mile radius of Drum, and prior to Christmas will be visiting each home in Cootehill town with a Christmas card containing a gospel message. Pray that as people receive these they will be encouraged to seek more of Christ.

Colin and Rosemary Sheldon (Dublin) ask prayer for M, a lady who attends the assembly in South West Dublin. She received severe head injuries after a fall and is currently in an induced coma. Prayer is asked for M, her husband, and family members at this time.

LOCAL

The Redcar Assembly is distributing 1,000 Believer’s Magazine calendars, a Christmas tract, and an invitation to our Carol Service on December 22nd, at 4:00 pm.  The plan is to start the delivery in week commencing 9th December, and is to be done at a time that’s convenient for the individual. Whether you can practically help or not in their distribution please, please, remember in prayer that the Calendars etc. would be positively received and used.
