ANGOLA
Brian Howden
would value
prayers for
two containers that need to
be cleared through customs in Luanda.
One has our replacement Land Rover in, the other has 10,000 Chokwe
hymnbooks in and a large quantity of medicines for the work as well
as numerous items needed for the on going work. Both these
containers are currently in Luanda port so please
pray that these may soon be
cleared with the minimum of hassle.
Please do continue to
pray for the assembly at Camundambala. There is a fear of
witchcraft which is becoming a real hindrance to blessing. Please
pray that the younger men do not become disillusioned and
discouraged.
Ruth
Hadley (left) asks
prayer for
Lenguela and his wife
Fernanda from Camundambala,
as well as Domingos Matos
(one of the teachers at Camundambala) and his family from Saurimo.
Lenguela's wife Fernanda
although clear of TB is still not well, and the doctors are not sure
what to do next, all this compounds the belief of not a few that she
has been bewitched. Her husband,
Lenguela is a very able brother in the meeting and we need to
pray for his preservation.
RWANDA
Jano
and Chrissie Mulindabigwe ask
prayer as they visit refugees coming over the border from
Dem. Rep. of Congo, numbering up to 7,000, in the local transit
camp. Prayer is asked for
wisdom and an ability to assess the situation while providing
encouragement.
JAPAN
David and
Esther Dexter (Miyazaki)–
The next Bible Study will be held at the prison on
12th June and
David asks
prayer that the four who were
there last time will attend. In addition
pray that a Christian
chaplain would replace the one that has recently left.
THAILAND
David and
Maureen Wood (Chiang Mai) -
David is relinquishing his post as Facilities Director and
has been appointed as a full-time Technical Education teacher.
Pray that a new Facilities
Director will be appointed to take over this role in June.
ARGENTINA
Dick and
Irene Robertson (Oran)
- There has been several ‘break ins’ at the meeting hall recently (5
times in a few weeks). Railings are being made for the windows and
doors. Pray for protection
and an end to this distressing and disruptive problem.
Pray for the Sunday School,
where this year they will be concentrating on ‘Bible Olympics’,
memorising texts based on the Olympic colours (ie 6 texts for each
colour). Pray that the
children would profit from learning these scriptures.
BAHAMAS
Mark
and Carol Lacey - Marcus
has stepped down from being Night Manager at the New Haven but is
continuing to encourage the students.
Pray for
Kevin Roberts who has taken
up the position, that he would settle quickly and develop good
relationships, so that it would enable him to work effectively with
the clients.
PERU
Luis and
Anne-Laure Mostacero (Trujillo) -
Anne - Laure would appreciate
prayer as she shares the
gospel with 30 ladies twice weekly, along with two other workers,
Alison and
Martha.
Anne-Laure has also begun a
Bible study with Evelyn and a
friend each week. Pray for
these ladies as they study, that they will come to know Christ.
FRANCE
Graham
and Alison Black - A man who had previously taken Bible
courses while in prison wrote recently to say that he was now back
in prison for an offence that he had committed some time ago, but
that his sentence had been reduced from several years to several
months. During his release he met a Christian girl and married her.
Since then she has enrolled on one of the Bible courses.
Prayer is asked for this
couple, D and
I, and for many others doing
the courses, especially those doing the beginner's course, that they
might find the eternal life of which the course speaks.
REPUBLIC
OF IRELAND
Noel and Liza McMeekin (Drum) ask
prayer as they prepare for
outreach work in their district. They advise that 22,000 tracts
have been ordered for distribution during
June, around the towns and
villages of Co Cavan and Co Monahan. They also plan to have Bible
Clubs in the locality during the summer, in
Newbliss,
Drum and
Smithborough.
Liza
and other ladies from the assembly are presently engaged in an
outreach with the women of the district. Almost 50 ladies, after a
walk together, heard a testimony and a Gospel message. Please
pray that these messages will
have an impact on their lives.
Michael
and Shirley McKillen (Gorey) - Preparations have begun for
the summer outreaches and they would value
prayer for this. In
mid-June they plan to set up
a stall at the local agricultural show, and will be running the
annual 3 weeks of holiday Bible Club in
Riverchapel. During this time
they will send out teams to the town and surrounding villages with
gospel CDs (Hope in the Storms of Life).
Andrew
Shanks (Newcastle West) had hoped to visit the Kenmare show
next week however the organisers have cancelled the show. They are
currently trying to confirm entry to the Tipperary show
on the 9th June D.V and would
appreciate your continued prayerful support
for this gospel outreach.
ITALY
Giuseppe
and Rachel Palermo (Milan) ask that we continue to pray for
Fabio, Anna and
Nicola who were baptised on
5th May, and also for all those who attended. Approximately 50 of
the guests were non-believers.
MACEDONIA
Olive Wilson (Bitola) has started a Saturday afternoon class
for children teaching Bible stories, verses and songs.
Pray for these children and
that others would want to attend, and for Ivana (16yrs) who helps
with the work. Over the past few weeks Olive and
Anita have visited Roma women
in their homes and some have shown an interest in spiritual matters,
asking questions and wanting to learn more. On some visits other
visitors or relatives have arrived, giving them the opportunity to
share the gospel with these women also.
Pray that this work will
bring fruit.
SPAIN
Ken and
Alison Barrett (Madrid) ask
prayer for the daily open-air preaching in
Puerta del Sol in Madrid.
Ken is involved in at least
one evening a week. The police, who have to respond to the return of
massive demonstrations have also placed limits on some of the
evangelistic work. Please pray
for grace and favour with the authorities of the daily teams and for
the continued sowing of God’s Word in these times of increasing
public protests.
Ken and
Alison also ask prayer
for childrens’ meetings to be held each Friday evening in two of the
local parks. Prayer is asked
for the team of volunteers as they communicate the Gospel, and that
the children would be attentive and families receptive.
