MISSIONARY PRAYER NEWSLETTER FEBRUARY 2011

ANGOLA

Please continue to remember in prayer Brian Howden’s visit this month. Please pray that as many saved and unsaved hear the Scriptures,  much blessing will result, and that the Lord’s presence and help be a daily reality.

ETHIOPIA

Robert and Sheena Revie –would value prayer for their visit to Ethiopia in February (precise dates not yet known).

MALAWI

Jonathan and Ruth Newell (Blantyre) report that the new Challenge Newspaper office in Blantyre is operating well.  Prayer is asked that there will be no difficulties with the delivery process because of the borders.

ZAMBIA

Barry & Rachel Haigh report that there is nothing to report with respect to the ownership of the Nyangombe Bible School and land. Please pray that justice might be done.

PAKISTAN

Asia Bibi, the Pakistani-Christian woman sentenced to death on blasphemy charges, is to be transferred to an all-women prison due to security concerns. Please pray that justice will be done, and the blasphemy laws will be repealed.

CANADA

Peter Smith leaves for Labrador on Wednesday, 2nd February. Our prayers would be appreciated for the flights east and for a smooth 12 hour ferry crossing on Friday (4th Feb) to Labrador. With John Fitzpatrick he commences adult Gospel meetings in Charlottetown on Sunday 5th February, God willing. They are looking to the Lord for a rich time of blessing.

PANAMA

Clive and Hazel Walker (Santiago) continue to hold meetings each Thursday and Sunday in La Mina. Prayer is requested for the unsaved family members of those who attend.

PERU

Luis and Anne-Laure Mostacero and Richard and Pam Harknett  (Trujillo) seek prayer for the Bible institute courses. Please pray for the teaching courses, the teachers as they prepare and present materials, and for the students as they travel and study. Also pray  that there will be benefit to the local churches when they return home.

ALBANIA

Enris & Sylvia Nase (Tirana) have visited “The Hiding Place” at Gjirokaster and report that it is at full capacity.  The running of the home remains a challenge for Marijan Nyhof as she continues to pray for a younger couple to take over this responsibility.  The political situation in Albania has caused the people to become very unsettled. Prayer is asked that this will not affect evangelistic activity within the country.

FRANCE

Malcolm and Hannah Coombes ask for prayer for the weekly Bible market stall in Orange. They have been encouraged lately with Bibles and Christian books being bought.

Gerry and Dorothy Seed (Nantes) would appreciate prayer regarding the building project for a new hall at Beaujoire. The decision as to what the next move should be will be taken at the AGM on Sunday 6th February.

In addition Gerry has been involved with a small team in the translation of ‘Bibletime’ lessons from English to French, to be used by children and young people in the French-speaking world.

Prayer is asked that this new tool for evangelism will indeed prove to be useful both in France and the many French-speaking countries in Africa.

Graham & Alison Black (Bouc-Bel-Air) report that they are still very much before the Lord regarding the need of a replacement studio recording technician.

A young couple are showing an interest and it looks as if they will be able to raise financial support and so be able to come and work with us. They are French speaking and seem to have the necessary skills to do the job. Nothing has been decided yet and Graham & Alison would ask us to pray for the Lord's clear guidance for them in the matter.

IRELAND

Noel and Liza McMeekin (Cootehill) value prayer for the many contacts made during November and December. In November every home in Cootehill was visited with a gospel magazine and in December gospel calendars and literature were delivered within a 10-mile radius of Drum. They have been able to make good contacts with people that have a desire to learn more. Most of them are from a Roman Catholic background and wisdom is required to deal with them in an appropriate and sensitive way.

Andrew & Gillian Shanks (Newcastle West) report that “Joseph” is still in Ireland and his judicial review has been put back to February 7th.

ITALY
Alec and Patrizia Catchpole
– Four non-believers are attending studies on baptism giving an excellent opportunity to teach the gospel to them. Prayer is asked for Salvatore, Emanuele, Angela and Enzo.

VARIOUS AREAS

Dr Mike and Ros Buckley - Prayer is requested for the Old Testament courses starting on Monday 7th February which will continue for five sessions.
