Mary
Ratter (Katoka) would appreciate
prayer as she prepares for
the women’s conference at Kasaji,
to be held from 8th-13th August.
MALAWI
Stephen
and Gail Harper (Thondwe) ask for
prayer for a lady called
Margaret, who is HIV positive
and also suffering from cancer. Pray
that she will find peace through trusting Christ. Also,
Zoe, one of
Gail’s friends, has just lost
her brother after he contracted a mystery illness. As far as they
know, he was not a believer. Please
pray for his elderly parents and other family members at this
time, and for Stephen and
Gail as they seek to bring
comfort and show the love of Christ to them.
ZAMBIA
Give thanks that
Doreen Barker (Chingola) is
now alert and able to recognise people, although she is still very
tired and can only have two visitors at a time. Please continue to
pray for her recovery.
Please
pray for
David and Grace Croudace (left),
who have just returned to Africa for a further period of
service. They will be based in Zambia, but will travel around to
different areas. Shortly after their arrival they will be involved
in two Bible teaching conferences on the Angolan border, and later
they hope to visit Malawi and
Mozambique to encourage the
believers there.
Robert and
Margaret Muir (Cowdenbeath) will be making a three-week visit
to Zambia in August. Pray for
safe travel and that their visit will be blessed by the Lord.
INDIA
Please
pray for Joy Tilsley (Narsapur),
who has been admitted to Vellore Hospital suffering from cancer.
Pray also for the
administration of the school at
Holland Wharf, as a new intake of girls is soon to take
place.
JAPAN
Please
pray for Charles Lawrence
(Fukushima), who is planned to go into hospital for tests on
3rd August.
PAKISTAN
Harry and
Stephanie Lannon (Murree)
remind us that a new school year starts on
10th August at
Murree Christian School. They
are seriously short-staffed, so pray
that the Lord will provide for this need.
Stephanie will be boarding
administrator, with responsibility for 13 boys as well as teaching
Christian Studies.
THAILAND
David and
Maureen Wood (Chian Mai) have just returned to Thailand after
a short break in Scotland. They ask us to
pray for visas for new staff
members arriving in August at
Grace International School,
and also for all the staff as they begin a new school year.
BRAZIL
Jim and
Carmen Jardine (Uberlandia) request
prayer for
Solange Kohls, the wife of a
national worker, who has been seriously ill for some time. She was
responding to treatment but has now had a relapse and is in
intensive care. Jim would
also value prayer for two of
his ministries in which he has fallen behind because of health
problems. These are the correspondence courses and the responses to
readers’ questions on the assembly magazine website. Please remember
Jim as he tries to catch up
with these.
BELGIUM
From
September onwards, Anne Dryburgh
(Gent) will be working with
another assembly in Kuurne.
At present, there are about 200 in fellowship and around 80 young
people. She will be helping to disciple ladies and provide pastoral
care for them. Please pray
for her as she prepares for this work.
ETHNIC
MINORITIES
Ruth Cushing would value
prayer for one of her friends in
Preston.
Ruth visits this lady every
week and reads the Bible with her, but although she shows interest
she is reluctant to change her religion.
Ruth was recently able to
leave a Bible with her. Please pray
that the Lord will speak to this lady through His Word.
FRANCE
Gerry and
Dorothy Seed (Nantes) report that the assembly has now moved
into its new building and they are thankful to have a place of their
own. Pray that some of the
folks in the neighbourhood will be curious enough to come along to a
service in the building.
Alain and
Christine Monclair (Quimper Region) ask for
prayer for the summer camps
at the Centre des Jeunes in St
Lunaire. Alain and
Christine’s son
Paul has been helping at a
teenagers’ camp and will also assist with the family camp in August.
Please pray for safety all involved, and for a deep working of the
Holy Spirit among the campers and staff.
Echoes
report that Peter Wheeler (Arras)
(right) has had a pacemaker fitted. Please
pray that the surgery will
have been successful, and remember
Jeane as she cares for him.
Graham
and Alison Black (Bouc Bel Air) report that some of the Radio
Stations who they use have asked them to produce 3 min programmes
instead of or as well as the usual 15 min ones. This was a big
challenge, and they have used a French Assemblies Daily Calendar (Vivre
Aujourd’hui—”Living Today) as the basis, and to-date have
produced 50 of them. Please pray
for this new project, and its further development.
REPUBLIC
OF IRELAND
Andrew and
Lorna Burt (Enniscorthy) hope to have two weeks of children’s
clubs, three nights of youth clubs, a women’s outreach meeting and a
family fun day, as well as distributing 4,000 evangelistic magazines
around the town. Please pray
for the organisation that still needs to be done and for the impact
of these events on the people of
Enniscorthy.
Noel and
Liza McMeekin (Coothill) will have three weeks of Holiday
Bible Clubs in different locations.
Pray that they will be given the needed stamina for this
work, and that they will see blessing in the lives of the young
people.
NORWAY
Nat and
Jennifer Rodgers (Skien) ask for
prayer for a couple from
Bergen who are missionaries in
Greenland. Eivind has
recently been diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumour. He and his
wife Liv are in their early
50s and have three children.
PORTUGAL
Colin and
Grace Lovell (Sintra) would value
prayer for a lady called
Crisalda, who has recently
come to faith. She has had some nervous trouble and is on
anti-depressants. Her mother, who is in her 80s, comes to the
meetings with her and they have both asked to do the
Alpha
course. Pray that they will
be the first of many from Albarraque
who find the Lord.
SPAIN
Jesus and
Helen Ortiz (Soria) ask us to
pray for three Saturdays in
August, 1st, 15th and 22nd, when they will be showing gospel
films in the park near their assembly, and also in the open air near
to their home in the evenings. They are inviting friends and
neighbours, so pray that many
of these will attend and also show interest in coming to the Sunday
services.
