JAPAN
Noel
Hamilton (Japan 1988-94; 00-11) –
Noel
reports: The Reconstruction work of
Samaritans Purse will sadly come to
an end soon, and then most of us will go our
separate ways, although some Staff will
remain to continue supporting churches and
new Christians, doing Follow up with the
homeowners. It will be sad. There is much
that still needs to be done. So far, we have
repaired and rebuilt over 490 houses, and
hope to finish almost 525 by the
end of
August. Please
pray
for our safety and stamina as we work hard
each day from morning until night. We are
often moved to tears as we hear the
homeowners weep with joy as they are given
back their restored homes. The Gospel is
being preached very day, in Word and in
Deed, and the Lord is blessing. Thank you so
much for being a part of this movement of
God in Japan. Your prayers, and ours, are
being answered.
PAKISTAN
The
BBC
in Islamabad
are reporting the arrest of a girl aged
11yrs, reportedly with mental impairments,
for apparently desecrating pages of the
Koran. There
are conflicting reports about the details of
the incident.
On July 4th a
Pakistani mob took a man accused of
blasphemy from a police station and burnt
him to death.
Many Christian families have fled the area
and although some have returned to their
homes, a sense of unease remains. Please
remember in
prayer
those who are persecuted for their faith.
It is believed that
Asia Bibi
is still alive in jail, and her family in
hiding.
COLOMBIA
Anita and
Kathleen Keith-Gillon (Armenia) ask
prayer
for 25 believers who were baptised on
20th
August (a public holiday in
Colombia). In addition they would value
prayer
as they travel to
Palmira,
south of Armenia, on
Thursday 23rd
August to attend a senior citizens
outreach, where they have been invited to
speak. Pray
that those listening would understand the
message of salvation.
EASTERN
EUROPE
Martin and
Margaret Baker (Senior Workers) are
currently visiting assemblies in north
Serbia
for ministry
until 29th August , please
pray
that their visit will be a blessing and
encouragement to the believers they meet.
REPUBLIC OF
IRELAND
Noel and
Liza McMeekin would value
prayer
for the Drum
Bible Activity Week commencing Monday
20th
August.
Andy and
Gillian Shanks (Newcastle West) –
Please continue to
pray
for the ‘The
Ultimate Decision’ at
Limerick
Show 25-26th
August.
In addition,
prayer
is asked for an opportunity that has opened
for a stand at one of Europe’s largest
Outdoor Exhibition and Agricultural Trade
shows, to be held in September.
Pray
that this will be possible, that there would
be ample helpers, and that it would bring
many opportunities to present the gospel via
the ‘Ultimate
Decision’ stand.
