ETHIOPIA
Please continue to
remember
John McQuoid, who is currently
revisiting Ethiopia. This week he is in
Ginchi,
70 miles west of Addis Ababa. This town has
seen great blessing over the past 15 years,
with around 7,000 people coming to faith and
almost 100 assemblies and preaching stations
being established.
Pray
for John
as he teaches the elders and evangelists,
who will be coming together from all over
the area, and also as he speaks to high
school students on Saturday.
ZAMBIA
ECHOES report that
short-term worker
Helen Hindson (Zambia) may be able to
leave hospital in Belfast very soon, as she
is now starting to walk again. However, she
will need a wheelchair and crutches for a
while yet. Give thanks for this good
progress, and
pray
that it may continue.
THAILAND
Dr Geoff and
Pat Atkinson Thailand) are travelling
to the Thai/Lao
border at the end of November for the Khmu
women’s conference. Pat will be the speaker,
and they are expecting many Khmu women to
come from Laos.
Pray
for a good time of fellowship and blessing.
BRAZIL
Jeff and
Denise Watson (Foz) are currently
preparing for Christmas activities and for
the new year ahead. Tragically, one of their
young people was shot dead at the end of
October, causing great panic amongst others
in the group. Many are now in hiding, for
fear of being the next.
Pray
for Jeff
and Denise,
that the Lord will give them His wisdom to
know how to handle this sad and dangerous
situation. They are trying to encourage the
young people to return to the meetings.
Walter
Alexander (Vitoria) has been allowed
home from hospital following his recent
surgery. He is still very weak, so needs our
continued
prayers, but is in good spirits and
rejoicing in the Lord.
This week,
Harry and
Jean Reid will be visiting a town
called Gort
in the south of Ireland, where one person in
every four is a
Brazilian
immigrant. They will be taking a good
selection of Portuguese literature to
distribute among these folk, and
prayer
is requested that they will have a good
reception.
CANADA
Peter Smith
is with the small assembly in
Grand Bend
(near Sarnia, Ontario) for children’s
meetings. He then flies on to England on
Sunday evening for a brief 10 day visit to
his Mum, before returning with
Elaine's
Mum, who is planning to stay with them for
four weeks, God willing.
FRANCE
Alison
Packer’s (Laval) five-hour operation
went well and the doctors say they found no
nasty surprises. Please
pray
that she will recover quickly from the
operation and the weeks of intense pain
which have left her feeling very tired.
Pray,
too, that she will recover her appetite.
Pray
for Mike
and the boys
to remain positive and trust in the Lord.
Remember especially
Sebastien,
who has just left to spend ten months in
Spain.
Allan and
Anne Kitt(Villefranche-sur-Saone) are
planning to distribute tracts to about 550
new homes which have been built near their
hall. The tract will welcome people to the
district and encourage them to think about
making a fresh start with God. Please
pray
for these new residents. Some may be
Christians already, and could be a real help
in the assembly.
SPAIN
Ken Barrett
requests
prayer for an English camp which is
due to take place on
24th and
25th November. This has been planned
by the missionaries associated with the
Alcala
assembly, as a means of making contacts in
the community. Several church members will
be involved as conversational language
helpers over the weekend. Please
pray
that hearts will be opened to the gospel.
OTHER
OVERSEAS SERVICE
Peter Hedley
is visiting
Albania
for teaching and preaching this coming week.
Please pray
that he will be encouraged and helped and
that the Lord will bless those who attend
the meetings.
Please
pray
for Ian
Burness (ECHOES) as he travels to
Angola
from 23rd
November to 8th December.
LOCAL
John Wilcock
(Wylam) is the planned speaker this
coming Sunday at 6:30 pm.
