Prayer Requests for Week Commencing 19-07-2010

The following information comes mainly from the Echoes weekly prayer bulletin and further details can be found on their web site. Other prayer requests have come from direct communication with the missionary involved.  The prayer requests listed here are, as far as is sensibly practical, for activities that are happening on the particular week. A list of previous weekly Missionary Prayer requests can be found here.

The Assembly also, most months, publishes a monthly Missionary Prayer Newsletter, for prayer requests on a longer time-scale. Click here for the last month's prayer newsletter.

ANGOLA

Pray for Jonathan and Ruth Singleton, who are visiting Angola until 7th August to help Ruth Hadley and carry out a number of practical jobs, including work on the school at Camundambala. A team of seven people from Scotland will also be going out to help for two weeks from 24th July.

JAPAN

Ronnie Cairns (Akashi)  (left) was recently able to speak to 60 workers at a trading company in Osaka. He gave a 45-minute message in the company canteen. The company president is a Christian and is keen to share the gospel with his 1100 employees.

Charles and Rita Lawrence (Fukushima) are looking forward to a one-night camp on 25th and 26th July. Pray for a time of encouragement and blessing. A similar camp will be held in August in the north-east area.

MEXICO

Eglon and Judith Harris (Orizaba) (right) request prayer for the children’s Bible clubs taking place from now until 7th August. Over 3,000 children will be reached in the many locations where they will be held. Pray especially for the Saturday activities, when parents will be invited and given a gospel message.

REPUBLIC OF IRELAND

Noel and Liza McMeekin (Drum) are involved with the Postal Bible School summer camp, which started on Saturday 17th July. Pray for safety, for stamina for the leaders and for the Lord’s help for the speaker, John Hewitt.

ROMANIA

Please continue to pray for those who have been affected by the floods in the Siret River valley. Many have lost all their possessions. Tim and Jenny Gooding (Cluj) have visited the affected area with relief supplies. Pray for them and other Christians who are involved in the relief effort. Echoes of Service has been able to forward monies from its Disaster Fund to assist in the relief operations.

SPAIN

Please pray for a discussion group for English speakers which Alison Barrett has begun in Alcalá on Monday evenings. There have been a number of contacts for this activity. Pray that there would be an appropriate opportunity to witness.

Pray, too, for the safe arrival of an OM team on Saturday 24th to start a week of evangelistic outreach in Alcala and Madrid. Pray for safety, health, effective witness and unity within the team and those helping from the local church.

OTHER WITNESS

Please pray for the GLO outreaches in Renfrew, Scotland, from 24th to 31st July and in Ballymena, Northern Ireland, from 24th July to 1st August. Pray that the team members will be kept in good health and be effective in their witness.

LOCAL

Coffee & Chat each Wednesday morning at 10:30 am.

An open air witness is planned in Redcar High Street on Sunday, at 2:00 pm.

Peter Smith (Wallsend) is planned to be with us this Sunday for the Gospel Service at 6:30pm.
