Prayer Requests for Week Commencing 18 - 02 -2008

The following information comes mainly from the Echoes weekly prayer bulletin and further details can be found on their web site. Other prayer requests have come from direct communication with the missionary involved.  A list of previous weekly Missionary Prayer requests can be found here.

RWANDA

Please continue to pray for those who being affected by earthquakes in this country. About 40 have been killed and hundreds injured. Jano and Chrissie Mulindabigwi (Kigali) report that they were woken at 4 am last Thursday morning by their home shaking, although they were 280 km from the epicentre. The people at Cyangugu are still suffering and go to bed in fear every night, as many homes have collapsed. Pray for Jano and Chrissie as they try to give comfort and support.

INDIA

Retired missionary John Martin and his son Paul will be travelling to India on 21st February, staying with Ron and Lilo Penny (Bangalore). During his stay, John will be taking a workshop in Bangalore, moving then to Delhi to speak to students and graduates who want to learn more about sharing Jesus with their Muslim friends. John and Paul return to the UK on 2nd March and would value prayer for every aspect of their visit.

JAPAN

Ken and Christine Cowell report that Ken has seen the doctor and has now been given the all-clear to return to Japan. They will travel on 6th March.

MALAYSIA

Peter and Peggy Ferry (Phuket) have travelled to Taiping, Malaysia, to-day 20th February. Peter is to take two weeks of Bible teaching, comprising five lectures a day for two weeks of five days, and during the three weekends he will also have meetings in the assemblies in Taiping and Penang. Peggy has been asked to speak at a special meeting for ladies in Taiping on 24th and they would both value prayer for help and blessing as they share from God’s Word. They are due to return to Thailand on 11th March. Pray that nothing untoward will happen to their property whilst they are away; housebreaking is not unusual in Phuket.

MEXICO

This week, on 21st, Eglon Harris is speaking to elders and music leaders of assemblies in the state of Puebla about ‘Music and the Bible’. In particular, they are looking for answers regarding the modern trends in church worship. Then, on 23rd, Eglon is travelling to Pochote Nuevo for the regional Elders’ Meeting, at which he has been asked to give a talk on the quality of our service for the Lord. Please pray for the Lord’s blessing on these events and that He will watch over Eglon as he travels around.

PANAMA

New Prayer Guide workers Clive and Hazel Walker have arrived safely in Panama City and will be travelling to Santiago sometime this week. They are catching up with necessary paperwork and making contact with local workers.

FRANCE

The Petite Synthe and Arras assemblies are having a church weekend on 23rd and 24th February, to be held in a large centre in a town equidistant from Dunkerque and Arras. Pierre Bariteau will be the speaker. Please pray for a profitable time around the Word of God and that those who attend will be blessed by sharing this time of fellowship together.

Peter & Josette Coleman (Digne) ask for prayer for a series of gospel addresses on the Life of Christ, to begin on 24th February and conclude on Easter Sunday. On Palm Sunday they hope to have an Easter meal to which friends, families and other contacts will be invited, and a short message will be given on this occasion.

REPUBLIC OF IRELAND

Noel and Liza McMeekin continue their Postal Bible School prize givings this week in Cavan, Monaghan, Belturbet, Navan and Castleblaney. Please pray for safety as they travel many miles and especially during the hours of darkness, for God’s presence at the meetings and for help for the speakers as they seek to make the gospel message known to many who are not used to hearing it.

LOCAL

Please continue to pray for the outreach through the Coffee Morning.  Please pray that if it is the Lord's will, this informal time together will be used by Him to bring real blessing to those living in the locality of the Gospel Hall.

Paul Richardson (Harrogate) is planned to be with us this Sunday evening for the preaching of the Gospel.
